It will throw your speedo off a couple mph. I didn't recalibrate mine, I just go the speed limit and figure if I'm 2-3 over I'm safe either way. It's easy to recalibrate if you want it dead on though, the difference was minimal I didn't worry about it.
I received a battery powered one with my Undercover hard folding cover. It's really bright, sure one could easily be mounted in the back even with double sided tape if you wanted.
