  1. Who is waiting for the diesel?

The 30% comes from the JK gas vs. diesel on 37" tires, and talking with people who have AEV Rams with gas vs diesel (both HD, and 1500). My stock JK got 18 mpg, add 4" of lift, 37" tires and now you are pushing 12-14 mpg. That same vehicle with the VM diesel would easily get 20-22 mpg. While...
  2. Who is waiting for the diesel?

I did some math on my side, and at the moment Diesel is about 15% more per gallon, and with the Ram it got 30% better fuel efficiency. At the moment diesel is about $3/gallon vs $2.60 for non-ethanol gas, doing the math at 22 vs 30 mpg it means $0.118/mile compared to $0.10/mile for diesel (or...
  3. What makes the Rubi look so much more badass?

I think that it is the wider axles and more aggressive tires. From the side the tires do look smaller and less aggressive on the JT/JL than they did on the JK in my opinion due to the highline flares. At the same time I appreciate the flares since it accommodates a 35" tire off the lot.
  4. Who is waiting for the diesel?

I really want the diesel for the torque off-road. After driving the diesel J8 and having a JK... the J8 wasn't going to win any races, but it also seemed to be less affected by hills, wind, and you could essentially set the cruise on the highway and forget it. On my JK the gas engine (3.8, I...
  5. Which trim?

I will sa The nice thing about having a Rubicon JK is that when I bought it in 2008 I paid $32k, and am looking to sell it for $17K. The resale values of 10 year old Jeeps is crazy due to the price of the new ones and is making it much more palatable to get to the price increase.
  6. Which trim?

I will be going the Rubicon route again. I likely will be working with a lift and tires that the axles will be able to handle without issue. In my JK I like the Rubicon lockers, sway bar, and I am looking forward to the front trail cam. I haven't decided on the front steel bumper yet (rear is...
  7. Overlanders (the activity, not the model) - State your Intentions

I think that is Ben Hendrick's Brute. I like the setup, but I really would like a rear bed rack like that that is height adjustable. A while ago AEV did a Ram with a RTT, and they positioned the bed rack so the top of the RTT when closed was even with the top of the cab. I think that would be an...
  8. Gladiator's Off-road capabilities vs JL

Correct. The Trail Rated badge has meant that the Jeep has made it through several trails in both Moab and the Rubicon in stock form. There is a lot of rock stacking, strategic lines to make things as easy as possible, and potential body damage that the average person would find undesirable...
  9. Save Half Doors!

I would like to see Jeep find a way to make the doors and windows that don’t need the frame on the upper part of the door. They could incorporate the window weather stripping into the body and top. Roll the windows all the way down and you have a half door.
  10. Gladiator's Off-road capabilities vs JL

Off-road off the lot your most capable Jeep would be the JL, then JLU, then Gladiator. There are some instances where the longer wheelbase of the Gladiator come in handy (more stability), however you need more lift and tire size on the Gladiator to get to the same level of capability that the...
  11. High speed off-road calibration?

At the moment on the JK and JL it is software preventing the high speed off-road setting. A flash of the body control module and they could open the feature up. On the JK (and I would assume the JL) adding a wire to the relay controlling the lockers you could control them independently on a...
  12. Bumper step option

I am hoping that when AEV comes out the the rear bumper they give us an option for a step. They did it on the prototype JL rear bumper already.
  13. Overlanders (the activity, not the model) - State your Intentions

I plan on setting mine up for overlanding. I will likely do a slide out cargo tray with the tonneau cover. I also would like to do a cargo rack over the bed. For mechanicals I will likely do AEV bumpers all around and snorkel. It will take some use to decide if I want to do a lift and 37” or...
  14. What Jeep Gladiator aftermarket products would you like to see?

Something like that for the JT with tie down options in the middle would be exactly what I am looking for.
  15. What Jeep Gladiator aftermarket products would you like to see?

I would like to see a tray for the bed that slides out to make it easier to load and unload. If it included a lot of tie down points to secure the cargo to the tray that would be a plus. I am also looking forward to the AEV front/rear bumpers, and a lift for 37-40” tires.
  16. Invoice price or below, post them here!

Some discounts do stack together. Both Costco and Tread Lightly are straight cash back to the dealer and can be stacked depending on the vehicle.
  17. So, how deep is the bed?

I am guessing it is around 18". Just looking at how much space is above the Decked system (which is 12" tall) there isn't much, so it is an educated guess at best.
  18. How to negotiate?

The process that I use to negotiate is the following: 1. Sell any other vehicles I want to trade privately. This takes one of the things that can be negotiated out of the equation. Sometimes a low vehicle price also gets you a low trade in price to offset the difference. 2. Build one online...
  19. How are you going to use your JT?

This will be replacing my 2008 JK Rubicon. I will use it as a daily driver mostly, but with home improvement projects there are times I need to haul lumber, sheet material, and other things that are a challenge to fit into a traditional SUV. I will also be using it for trails and off-road that...
  20. What factory options are you choosing?

I am leaning towards: Rubicon Diesel Gobi Color matched hard top Technology package (for front trail cam) Steel bumpers Bed liner Tonneau
