What’s a good grounding point if I want to mount a powered sub behind the rear seat and don’t want to take off the rear panel? I don’t have premium audio so all I have back there is a tray
I got my Gladiator there. I was able to talk them down a little from their online price, but not much. And the add-ones are real, but I talked them down a little there, too. In the end, I think I was about 15% under MSRP.
Greatly appreciate the thorough write up! I was just studying up on this, today. I’ll need to read through again to really digest everything.
Had anyone discovered a way to make this a poor man’s Genesis dual battery setup?
You’ve still got a rear locker and the stock tires are the same size as a Rubicon’s. It’s still a more capable trail runner than 95% of the vehicles on the road, including JT Sports and Overlands.
I don’t have a tri-fold. It’s a soft roll-up. But even that won’t roll up the traditional way without hitting. I have to unhook it, pull the back all the way to the front underneath the crossbars, and then roll it up, there. I’d have better clearance to just roll as normal except the cover bows...
If you want to wrap the top with fencing, go with 4 foot rebar. Other wise, you could just use 2 foot and hammer it flush. I saw an example with a top cap, but that’s strictly decorative if you’re staking it. Wood is expensive enough right now. ?
The corners blocks are stacked loosely, but they each have a hole down the middle so I staked them with 4 foot rebar. then to make it rabbit proof (since they live in our yard), I wrapped it with rabbit fence and tacked it down to the boards along the perimeter. This thing ain’t going nowhere...
I’ve got the same bumper as ShadowsPapa. I’ve got zero issues with the fit. The powder coat isn’t great and the winch plate is thin, but fit is perfect.
I’ve got no plan to add a lift int the traditional sense. Haven’t even explored them. But I did get Rubi take-off shocks and springs, Mojave take-off wheels and tires, and 1.5” Teraflex levelers. Someday when these 33s wear out, I’ll consider moving up to 35s. That’ll just have to do.
I was telling my wife on our way home from Lowe’s how much I LOVE using this thing for “truck stuff”.
This is payback for my recent Jeep parts ordering spree, but I would have done it, anyway. It was a fun project and my wife and daughter love our new vegetable garden.
There were a couple more...
This. But I’d honestly just go with Smitty kit pictured above if I were going stealth. It’s been around for a while and it’s popular. Seems to be reliable. It way more affordable. And it’s also got a wireless remote. Plus it’s proven stealth-able.
I wasn’t quite ready to but when I actually bought back in fall. I figured I’d be doing 6 months of research and soul searching and then just buy in the spring. This conversation is validating my decision. (Was also my last chance at a Gobi.)
Revisiting this subject after so long, I still haven’t named it and it’s likely I never will. I usually end up calling it the Jeep but I’m trying to train myself to call it the truck. No reason in particular, though.
No, I didn’t search. But it’s not like I was seeking an answer to a problem. I was simply striking up conversation.
Yes, I guess I could have searched, but there’s no “solution” that a search would have resolved.
Anyone not interested in joining the conversation is welcome to disregard it...
I bought Mojave take-off wheels/tires because they’re a comparatively-affordable upgrade and I like the Mojave wheels more than Rubicon.
I also thought it would be cool to add orange accents (including orange tow hooks) before I realized that’s what Mojave’s do. I may still do it.
But I’d...
