After a couple of days in Durango, we headed west to Moab, UT. The original plan was to see both Arches National Park and Canyonlands, but we ended up spending all of our time in Arches. The whole place isn’t so big that you can’t knock out most of the highlights in a couple of days. If you’re...
We headed north from New Mexico to stay in Durango, CO. It’s a place I’ve been several times in my life, but we did some new stuff. Unfortunately the Mesa Verde pictures are still in the camera, but I got plenty on my phone of the Million Dollar Highway and Imogene Pass.
We traveled Imogene...
The Hyatt Regency Tamaya was mostly a way station on the way to Colorado, but it’s a pretty neat place. It’s on the Santa Ana Pueblo and is directly adjacent to a horse rescue with something like 50 horses. They have nature trails right out the back of the hotel and hot air balloons launches...
So we’re one week into a national park tour and general outdoors vacation, starting from Texas and looking like this:
New Mexico:
Hyatt Regency Tamaya (Albuquerque)
Colorado:
Mesa Verde National Park
Imogene Pass (Ouray)
Utah:
Arches National Park
Fins and Things (Moab)
Wyoming:
Grand Tetons...
I just discovered a reason, myself. If I’m away from home and don’t happen to have the carrying case for the panels, just tossing them in the back is a bit sketchy.
First Jeep, but third truck. But this is the first I’ve ever modified besides a toolbox on my old F150. I do use it for “truck stuff”. No towing yet, but hauling on multiple occasions.
I haven’t found a perfect solution, but this is what I’ve done. I needed a cover but I also needed extra storage - all while being somewhat removable. I really like the Upper Decker, but it’s too heavy for me to remove without help.
I should mention that the reason I went this route in the...
Ok, maybe not THAT big of a deal, but I thought this was pretty cool! I finally got the hinges I needed to swing the cross bars and basket up out of the way for better bed access. It’ll still take some tweaking to get it just right, but you definitely get the idea!
All I have to do is...
We have one neighbor with a full fleet of such vehicles - a JK, a JT, and a JL all color matched… Painted black (either with bed liner or Kevlar) with neon green accents.
Seems to be pretty common around here, especially with young people and women. (Not meant derisively, just an observation.)
I don’t see them every day, but they’re particularly active on Facebook in our local Jeep club.
Finally mounted the basket over the bed. A shipping delay means it’ll be another couple of weeks before I can add the hinge to make it swing up for loading / unloading.
