So Moab shook my crossbars and basket literally to pieces. I spent 30 minutes tightening it back up before we left for Wyoming. But just this morning, I found I even lost a couple of bolts on my two inner hinges. Here’s hoping I over-engineered this whole thing and can get home on just the two...
My wife was asking if we could try a camper some time. My dad keeps talking about maybe getting an Airstream so I’m trying to nudge him into it so we can borrow it. ?
Canyonlands was part of our original itinerary but we ran out of time. The afternoons get so hot so it reduced the number of usable hours we had each day. But Arches was amazing.
We’re still sorting out the SD itinerary. I’ll research Custer. Thanks for the tip!
That sounds like an awesome trip! We’ve discovered that while your totally traverse the parks in just about any vehicle, some roads are rougher and require something a it more geared to the job. These are typically optional roads, buts it’s nice to have options.
This is our last night at Grand Teton and we head to Yellowstone tomorrow. GPS says it’s just an hour from campsite to campsite. It’ll take us longer to tear down and set back up than it will to actually travel. We didn’t see as much wildlife as we’d hoped - just bison and elk. But we’re hoping...
We’ve actually hired a photographer for a family portrait sessions in Grand Tetons. I believe Moulton barn is on the site list.
BTW, beautiful eagle. What equipment did you use?
Hard to believe the Colorado pics and Utah pics were taken just a few hours drive away from each other. And the temperature difference was 40 degrees between them.
Next stop -> Grand Tetons NP. Cell reception will probably be spotty at best.
LOL don’t worry. I’ll NEVER get a “grumper”, I don’t understand the attraction. The only decal I think I’ll get will be from my local Jeep club (NTJC) for the rear window.
Thanks! This is our first big family road trip (and first trip of any kind since COVID started), but we’ve been documenting our family travels for many years. Our favorite souvenirs are photos and stories. We try to impress it on our kids as much as we can.
All of this. Lifting a truck high in the sky looks awesome and it’s a perfectly valid thing to do, but it comes at the cost of being able to to “truck stuff” as well. The bed is higher - a pain for hauling. You’ll have to more cautious of payload capacity.
I’m also in the same “only as much as...
It’s a 3-week itinerary. We could only put in so much and we’re close enough to NM that we can go back. It was a conscious decision to spend less time there in order to have more time in far-from-home places.
That being said, we’re already earmarking places to come back to and spend more time...
The first couple of shots are on the road between Silverton and Ouray. One is from the One Million Dollar Highway and the other was just pulled over on the side of the road.
Moab is awesome. It’s all-new for all of us. We’ve seen similar formations near Zion National Park, but this is on a...
Imogene Pass. No damage, but I have a hitch skid. So I’m both more prone to take bumps and less prone to take damage.
On a separate note, I scraped my butt a LOT on Fins and Things in Moab. Not bumping, but scraping. The hitch skid helped, but I do have some superficial scrapes on my plastic...
It really did fine. I’ve got a Max Tow with Rubi front shocks and springs (never did the back), Mojave wheels and tires, and 1.5 Teraflex levelers up front. I bumped my rear twice, but both times I was going faster than I had to and one of them was completely avoidable except my wife was...
