With my Warn in the Mopar bumper, there’s nowhere that UV can hit the synthetic line. It’s all covered. So I don’t bother with a cover. I didn’t see the OP say what kind of bumper… but definitely don’t buy anything until after install and you can assess the potential for sun damage. I wouldn’t...
There's a locker sensor that can flood with axle lube and short out. For a weirdly long time during COVID part shortages, there was no supply of replacement sensors so dealers would actually swap out the entire axle. That's no longer true
The sensor can also just get gunked up with metal...
Agreed, that's not flexed out and if that's what you're using to decide it's OK and safe - be ready for a surprise some day. Stock control arms or swaybar might limit uptravel to what you see there in a slow-load static situation like that, but when you hit something hard at speed...
Unpainted fenders are plain molded black plastic with kind of a rough texture. Replacement is easy; rip out the old, snap on the new. $150-200 each corner?
Painted fenders are smooth textured, primed, painted, clear coated. Much more expensive but not sure how much. And as the paint on the...
Trails vary... The hard stuff around here consists of fields of boulders that will have you turtled out on frame, crossmembers, and center skids at stock height. I went with 3.5” springs but I’d need 5-6” lift for nothing to touch on John Bull or Holcomb Creek (Big Bear BOH trails). Glad its...
+1 if you’d be happy with the 33” Falken WildPeak AT3Ws that come stock on the Rubicon, those are very common on all local sale sites. First thing people do is get bigger tires and sell the stock ones. They’re good tires.
I had two sets of Michelin LTX AT2s on my previous Tacoma. I was happy with them at the time, and they did yield fairly good mileage. They're probably a fine match for what you're describing - high quality, relatively light and efficient. Not especially cheap, I recall. I punctured two...
I'm in the bay area too. I went to Portland OR (DasMule) for my ACCC purchase and install. It just so happens that Oregon does not charge sales tax at point of sale. I had family to stay with while I was there (~4 day install). Oregon labor rates are also a bit lower than LA or SF...
Welcome
Those MPG numbers look high to me, like maybe you're using imperial gallons instead of US gallons? 1 imperial gallon = 1.2 US gallons which would make that 39.8 mpg (imp) into 33.2 mpg (US) which looks a lot more reasonable. There are years-long threads on real-world MPG, check those...
"Max Tow Package with 4.10 Axle Ratio"
Yes, that's the actual factory-equipped max tow package.
There are a lot of other differences between Sports and Rubicons though, aside from the obvious prices. The off-roading features of the Rubicon were essentials for me. Might be wise to take a...
Ah, I missed that it's a diesel. I have a diesel Rubicon myself. I'm not a towing expert, so I'll let others speak more to what it's like to tow heavy with it
But 442 lb-ft of torque, up from 260 in the 3.6 gas motor, helps in a lot of situations. The drawback is that you can't make that...
"Max Tow" with the highest-available 7650-lb tow rating is ONLY available as a option on Gladiator Sport and Sport S trims. So by definition, that Rubicon cannot be Max Tow.
It does have the "Tow" package (6000 lbs rating? IIRC) but not "Max Tow." It's really a shame that Jeep made this so...
All good points, their customer service is pretty awful. But if you want the specifications - I was able to find those searching fairly deep around the web. (pasting from the last time I shared this)-
The Warn 62132 power interrupt kit appears to be an Ametek SAS-4214. Warn (as typical for...
No, not included - the MPc winch plate is an extra 23 lbs but I definitely do not recommend using it. After I bent mine, it went in scrap metal and got replaced with a Grimm Offroad plate. Your Warn looks properly built for the job, I'd run that.
(But just FYI, if you really want to count...
Wow, they’re scum if they’re trying to pass off bolting on the Mopar receiver as being the same as Max Tow. Any ordinary person would read that and be totally unaware that they’re not actually “properly equipped” as caveated in that blurb
To be fair, the receiver is quality and I’d have no...
Good ideas, and you should get the kit if you want to have it. It's just a cheap chinese POS hex ratchet.
But in case you just need to get the job done before that - it contains T40 and T50 Torx bits, and a 15mm hex socket. That's all you need to get the top off (and maybe you already have those)
Agreed with others above, it's getting more rare to encounter R-2 or R-3. More often they seem to just go from R-1 to closed so they can plow faster (without worrying about Subaru bros acting out their rally/drift fantasies).
I have had someone lean in the window to ask if I had chains, and...
