This is part of why these forums are so interesting to me, the different perspectives on owning the same car. There are several folks here who consider this feature to be a dealbreaker, and until I read this thread, I wouldn't have been able to say if mine even had it or not. And I did a ton of...
None of the car-switching events in my household are as jarring as me slamming my clutch foot into my wife's car's dead pedal a few times every time I drive it.
That's a great writeup. It surely does not make me feel any worse about paying the dealership to install my Mopar lift. I don't get how people around here are so casual about tightening some of these bolts at home with the truck on the ground. I had to CRANK on my rear track bar bracket bolts to...
Yep. I think my front axle moved towards the driver side about 5/8". Ended up with an adjustable track bar and it's good to go in front. I couldn't get consistent measurements on the rear but I installed a track bar relocation bracket after eyeballing it a little to the passenger side. I have...
These threads are fascinating to me (a modding lightweight). Some people's threshold of "hard" is beyond mine, and some people's are WAY WAY WAY beyond mine!
You are far from the first person to struggle with the front track bar. After hearing the stories, I was apprehensive to try it, but when I did, it went very smoothly - I just needed someone to manipulate the wheel while I fitted it to the frame. I think I got lucky.
This is insightful and useful advice, and if I might add to it a bit - a lot of the impulse mods people add to Jeeps are heavy. Steel 17x9s, heavy 35s or 37s, steel bumpers, winches, racks, rock rails, armor, beefy suspension components - it is easy to scatter-shot a bunch of mods with no...
Holy crap. We might be a sample size of 2. Are either of yours stick shifts (both of mine are!)? I only ever duck in on Sky forums when I'm having a mechanical problem, which I guess is always. Truly underrated little car, though. Mine's got maybe 42k on the clock and goes like hell. It's an...
Oh, and one thing to keep in mind - with your beautiful camping setup, anything on top of your rack gets way higher with the lift and tires. It's only a few inches but man it makes a difference putting stuff in the bed or trying to get things in/out over the sides! Great looking rig.
Yeah, I need to think the whole front bumper thing through. I still have rubbing with the sway bar disconnected, it looks a little funny, I'm led to believe there's an mpg incentive to leave it, etc.
