  1. Tailgate weight capacity/ Halfway down

My fear is the cables bent in that manor and not that plastic brackets are the real limit. If you are braking the brackets you are either doing it wrong (cables not routed correctly) or overloading it.
  2. Gladiator model question

The 255/75/17 is the stock Willys tire size, most I have seen have the Firestone MTs. 285/70/17 is the Rubicon & Mojave size.
  3. Gladiator model question

Thats not the case. The Willy Sport has body color fenders too. The only way is to look inside, if it has roll up windows its a Willys Sport. The Willys has power windows (and locks/mirrors)
  4. Trailer Hitch Motorcycle Carrier Confusion

The fairing is a nice feature, but it's the bigger 3.4 gallon fuel tank I like a lot about the rally. I have had a couple of bikes with 2 gallon-ish tanks and like more range. That camper build is insane. Amazing work.

I demoed the 22 KLR last year. I think the package overall is not too bad, but the weight and that motor....uggg. It feels like a 700-800 class bike with a 300 motor. Sounds like a KLX would hit the mark for what you want. Have you also looked at the Honda 300 Rally? Another one on my list. I...
  6. Trailer Hitch Motorcycle Carrier Confusion

Thanks, I have ridden the older KLX250 a number of times and came close to picking one up. No carbs for me anymore though, I want EFI. The 250 was particularly cold blooded and one factor I hope the EFI 300 fixed. My needs are not demanding, and get less so as I get older. I value low...
  7. Trailer Hitch Motorcycle Carrier Confusion

Mine is a stock 80th Anniversary Sport, though its probably the same as an Overland. Curb weight on the 700 is supposed to be around 465 lbs. Here it is with a Sprint 1050, its curb weight is well over 530 lbs with the bags. No issues with either, but I was VERY careful about where my weight...

Do you still have these tires on the bike, or had them on the whole time you had it? They look like the Anakee 3's I have on my GS. Those puppies SUCK in the sand. I swear I have had full on street tires that were better.
  9. Trailer Hitch Motorcycle Carrier Confusion

That one sits pretty high on my list of used bike deals I keep an eye open for. I have rarely bought new bikes. Thinking more and more about one now. I recently picked up a 700GS that covers most of what I do on the Husky with the 19/17 wheels. The 300 would fill some of the void of the stuff I...

Also curious to hear your take on the bike when you get the chance to ride it. I test rode a very low miles used bike and curious if what I found with the lack of bottom and mid range was just a fluke of that bike.
  11. Trailer Hitch Motorcycle Carrier Confusion

Yup two wheel sets is a BIG plus if you can do it. I have 19/17's that work fine for most dirt and gravel stuff north of here and easy stuff local, but I also have 21/18's for more sandy local running or if I think I will do more technical stuff on trip. While I have run local on decent...
  12. Trailer Hitch Motorcycle Carrier Confusion

Have you ridden the trails in your area? I assume like most of Florida its sand and DEEP sand in places?
  13. Trailer Hitch Motorcycle Carrier Confusion

Have you ridden the Himalayan? Where do you ride or plan to ride?
  14. Trailer Hitch Motorcycle Carrier Confusion

Would be curious on your take of the 390 when you get to ride it. I had considered one as a replacement for my Husky 650, but after getting a chance to ride one I wanted a bike with more low/mid range power. I am a tall guy with long legs and was also a little surprised at how wide the seat was...
  15. Mini RAM

Yup, had a couple US Ramchargers and always wanted one of the later model Mexican ones. BTW if you think a jeep hard top is heavy, try one of the old steel Ramcharger tops.
  16. Mini RAM

    Rabbit PU too.
  17. Mini RAM

My first was a 69 El Camino. Often with sand bags or cinder blocks in the back to lessen it from being a nightmare in the snow/rain. Guess I have a soft spot for weird truck like things. Did the 79 have a hi/low transfer case? My 86 did.
  18. Mini RAM

No, I had a last generation with the T tops and no seats in the bed.
  19. Mini RAM

A 2 door would be cool, looks like a usable bed size. Used to have a Brat back in the day, was a pretty handy little trucket.
