I lived this scenario almost play by play when we got into Idaho, my Dad in the Diesel JL pulling into the slow lane, and a few seconds later mine derated.... Coming back from Cali last week I did get new behaviour... Vehicle got up to 251F Oil temp on a hill climb and did not derate. NOT...
I should have took pictures of the other temps... always forget to pull up ORPages ;) Coolant temps were 212-218 usually, and the trans never ever seems to get hot. I use ACC in the lowlands, but I like to use my foot in the hills, so it was indeed enabled, but not active. Oh and in regards to...
Nope, that was on the way up. Just cuts the power and starts to lug at 248 oil temp. Not sure why... I did see 250 degrees for a sec, but then back to 248. First time it did it I was coming back on to the highway from a rest stop in Idaho, almost caused an accident when I couldn't go over 60mph...
This is such an interesting thead. Again I will say I Love my diesel Rubi. I don't really know what all this "towing" you guys are talking about. My vehicle will derate at the drop of a hat, on a slight incline. Few weeks back we headed to Moab. Idaho is tough because the speed limit is 80, and...
I mentioned my experience in the hills of Idaho in another post, I think it is related to Altitude and Oil temp. One member mentions that his EcoD will run up to 260 degrees, but mine cuts out at 248. My father in law's JL EcoD cut out too at the same time, but not 100% sure on his oil temp...
Hey azaustin, You saw 260 on your dash display? My Gladi shuts down at 248. I was climbing up in the hills of Idaho, it was warm, and I was trying to keep up with traffic... just cargo, no trailer. Just wondering if you knew how fast you were going and maybe what your RPM's were looking like?
Hey Josh, if you are in Idaho keep in mind the speed limit is pretty high there (80mph where we were) my diesel rubicon overheated and shut down twice trying to keep up with traffic uphill ... 4 people, and suitcases/coolers for the trip to Moab, no trailer. My father in-laws JL Diesel Rubi...
Installed the TeraFlex 1.5" spacer. Seems to have put a band-aid on the problem for now. I chose to leave out the bumpstop spacers supplied in the kit. I am only running 35's and I am hoping I don't cram the tire up into the fender. The gap between the bumpstops looks WAAYYYY better now... more...
I agree... Not sure what to do exactly at this point... I am waiting for a call back from the Dealership. I had an unusually long wait for my original order, and tons of miss information about the process. When i finally got it, it was scratched and had to be fixed... and the interior was not...
Sorry, that was kind of vague... I don't know the answer to your question, she just said that she will be closing the case today, and waiting for engineering.
I got my update from Lisa today. They are closing the case today as nothing can be done until Engineering comes up with a solution, as CreepyJeepy mentioned. So guess we are just stuck waiting, again. Not super happy at this point... really surprised that a top of the line Rubicon bottoms out...
Well I dropped the Gladiator at the Dealership today... Service Tech "Had some Ideas" before he even knew it was a Gladiator, or a Diesel ;)... had to laugh a bit... anyway the service Manager seemed super responsive, and very cool, so I am hoping they can get the details Jeep needs to figure it...
Hey Jay, any updates from your side? I am heading to MOAB in the near future and won't be able to get my vehicle in to the dealer until after I get back. Lisa asked me if i could put my stock bumper back on, which I can, but it is a huge PITA... Hoping some others with the issue will get their...
Just got off the phone with Lisa. Sounds like it has to go to a dealership :(. Anyway she is going to reach out to a couple and find one that will work with her. Guess I will hold on putting my spacers in this weekend. Not sure if I will be a good candidate or not because i have a Smittybuilt...
