Short answer…Yes, the new rigs cover a lot of inexperienced drivers mistakes. I think My new Gladiator is the first automatic 4x4 I’ve owned in over 4 decades of wheeling, and the automatic makes wheeling sooo much easier. I think the problem is that with a new rig, an inexperienced driver can...
I did the same thing at the same time I installed the AEV lift. After installing the new steel bumper and Warn winch, it still sags a little, but about level when I load my KTM 690 into the bed, so all good….
I talked about this with AEV customer service, and they were not a fan, but for the...
I stand corrected.
I’ve done both trails something like 20 times in prior jeeps…well and my 47 that I still own… (we spend time in Moab each year), and I don’t think I would attempt either with a stock Gladiator. Then again, my Gladiator had about 100 miles on the clock when I installed the...
You need to think about wheels as part of your decision matrix. If you run a lift that retains the stock front control arms like the AEV lift, you can use stock offset wheels and just add a few washers under your steering stops to keep the tires from rubbing. This will save you a lot of money...
Your Rubicon will do just fine, and you won’t get any body damage on Fins and Things.
I did Fins and Things as my first trail in my 1947 cj2a truck conversation the first time I took it to Moab. my 47 has open differentials and the frame stretch gives me just over 103 wheelbase. My 18 year...
replace that manual jack with an air assist hydronic with foot pedal control…$120 off Amazon…and you will add so much more capability to your Harbor Freight press. i also built a brake press about 10 years ago out of scrap steel that was a game changer as well…and now you can buy a brake press...
I live down a long dirt road, so both my Jeeps and corvette get washed at one of the six locations for the drive through carwash every time we leave our property In one of the rigs. the paint on the 2014 I just sold after buying the Gladiator did not show any signs of damage after a decade of...
Nope. I live down a long dirt road, so picking out the rocks would be a full time job. However, I hit pavement long before anything with traffic, so I suspect most all of the rocks are gone before hitting any traffic. If not, luck of the draw….a lot of folks in my area live down dirt roads...
I apologize if this question has been asked previously, but I don’t have the energy to read all of the posts in this thread. So, here goes…
I want graphics on the side of my Gladiator, but concerned about how the graphics will hold up using a carwash. The carwash I use is not brushless, so...
Yup, 5 hours is a little aggressive as an estimate…but then again, I am no longer in a hurry to finish projects after retirement. I generally enjoy working on my rigs, so just take my time…
Agree, keeping them available is a good design. I notched the front each of my removable panels to allow access as well. Since my platform is much higher, this also allowed me to keep access to charging and AC.
I bought the Clayton Track Bar off Amazon. If you can’t find it with a search let me know and I will attach an Amazon link.
My AEV kit didn’t come with the front TB bracket, but I wouldn’t have used it anyway since I used the RC front adjustable track bar. The joints on the stock front track...
I have a large parts washer from Harbor Freight, and it’s been with me for more than 5 years. I tried the biodegradable cleaner…just didn’t do the job on parts needing aggressive cleaning. So, I switched back to mineral spirits and haven’t changed it since filling the first time…I think it...
My son has a Goose Gear system, but I decided to just build my own. The top panels are carpeted and removable, and I have a lot more usable space under the panels than my son…but the Goose system is top notch…
I don’t routinely have anyone ride in the back, but my wife wanted me to try and...
Agree, You don’t need Johnny joints on a rear track bar, so don’t pay extra for track bar with these joints. I swapped to the Clayton rear track bar and removed the spare tire skid plate to fit a 37 under the rear of my 2024
The AEV 2.5 lift I installed came with a rear track bar bracket, but...
I’ve installed the RK 4-link on a gladiator, and we used the u-bolts AND I welded it to the tubes. a week after install, we took the gladiator on the Rubicon and it performed flawlessly. I also installed the RK on my JK (not a 4 link), and it handled every Trail I put it on.
I had intended to...
