Well, if it’s recommended on the internet, it must be necessary. As for AI, remember, AI is not making an independent assessment, it’s just an information algorithm.
I’ve watched folks spend money for years on unnecessary mods just because it was discussed on a forum or there was a review...
I ran 4.10 gears in my JK manual for 150k miles and never considered a gear change, and I swap gears in my shop, so could have made a change for the cost of parts. With the Gladiator, the expense to change from 4.10 gears just isn’t necessary with an automatic IMHO unless you tow.
My Gladiator...
My last set of BFG tires were replaced with more than 50% tread and still mounted on rims when they went to the new owner of my JK as spares. Good riddance to BFG…Baja Boss AT is just a superior tire…IMHO.
I have had three sets of Baja Boss AT in 37 inch on stock rims. In addition, my oldest son has the same tire on his Jeep. We rock crawl and spend a lot of time in the snow and ice, and this is the tire we have decided is the right tire to run for all conditions.
I was a diehard for the BFG...
I run a warn Zeon 12S, but IMHO, that’s overkill for a Gladiator…and expensive. I have the same winch on my Adventure Motorhome, and if I ever get into a situation where my motorhome is stuck, I may be pulling with both winches to get the motorhome freed up, so I have the use case that warrants...
I’ve posted this on other threads, that if you own a Jeep, you will get death wobble, just the nature of the beast. At the first sign of a problem, I replace all four ball joints, both wheel hubs, tie rod and drag link (or just the ends of I am running an aftermarket units with replaceable...
Missing Elephant Hill is almost a Sin…one of the best trails in Moab…IMHO. It’s a long way out there, so a lot of folks avoid it, and the daily permit is easy to just walk in a get the morning of the trip. Might also need to grab fuel in Montecello before you turn off the highway if MPG is a...
Completely agree, and one of the reasons I switched to Overland Trail Guides as a source for adventure trails. we are going to The Great American Outback Trail in the motorhome this summer…2400 miles of adventures. Of course, we will be towing the Jeep for those spicy diversions.
I still have...
Agree in part. My career as an executive and Board member set us up well for retirement, so I can afford to have folks work on my rigs and never notice the spending. My problem is the incompetence, as I never know if the work was done right, so I just keep wrenching on my rigs. However, in...
Agree with this. I’ve been to Moab a lot in a number of different Jeeps, and youI would expect to do damage to your Gladiator on Pritchett. Steel Bender is a question mark, depends upon how good a driver your are, your confidence in line selection and your willingness to stack rocks. I’ve...
We love Moab, but my new Gladiator has not yet been to Moab. We will remedy that this winter. Here’s a picture of my favorite trail, Golden Spike…and the Crack just after midnight. Two broken Jeeps made for a 23 hour trail day...
stock toe setting should be helpful. I should finish the regear of the Dana 60 in the front of the motorhome by the end of the week, and will try and remember to post the measurement here.
As soon as I finish swapping the gears in the front axle of my motorhome on F550 chassis this week, I’m going to put my Gladiator on the lift and check the toe. Even with the AEV lift and 37 inch tires I have not changed anything in the front that would change the toe with stock tires since I...
I tend to agree, as I see a difference in upgrading my new Gladiator with off the shelf parts than the fabrication we did 40 years ago.
For example, on my 47, I swapped in a Buick 231 v6 from an early 80’s Regal mated to an SM420 four speed from a school bus and had to fabricate all of my own...
