Finally got around to installing the camera in the tailgate. Basically followed the same install path defined by @sharpsicle.
In the tailgate, I drilled a 3/4" hole for the camera but the camera barrel was 15/16", so I filed out the hole to about 1 1/8". This allowed me to insert the camera...
@sharpsicle I'm about to tackle the tailgate install for my dashcam rear camera using your great idea as inspiration. I'm curious if you made any further modifications for weatherproofing, as you mentioned you had some concerns about that initially.
Today's project - Replace the original batteries with the Genesis dual battery setup. Pretty straight-forward setup as long as you remember to fully charge the new batteries before install and reset the IBS. Started right up and no more lights/messages on the dash.
I've been lurking around looking for a similar solution. I've always liked how the rear camera fits in the tailgate handle as seen in this thread. More work than an out of the box solution, but it looks nice if you can find a camera that works in that location...
Bought my Launch Edition August 2019, now with 36k miles - mostly beach or long-haul trips. Original batteries, tires, and brakes. Which means I'm likely going to replace each in the next year!
I’ll 3rd Rain Gear. I’m usually running naked all summer long and keep the rain gear cover in the back in case it looks like rain. Only missed it that one time…
@Vanzano Your timing is impeccable! I'm planning to add these in the same configuration you've outlined and I'm expecting the lights to be delivered today.
Your thoughts on tapping (posi-tap or other method) into the harness? I've seen a few discussions about more complex (and possibly...
I've had the same problem for a few months now. Mopar Nav has me about 50 miles SE of my current location at all times. I use Waze via CarPlay normally, so it hasn't been an issue for me yet. I'll add it to the list of items for the last warranty trip to the dealer.
I suspect you may have found the cover for the ACC box, used when the windshield is down. See this post for a photo of the cover in place when the windshield is down: https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/that-evil-box-behind-the-mirror.19430/post-293540
On my 8 hour trip back yesterday, I used my 6' Anker cable from the center console and did not have any disconnects. Apparently it worked better than my OEM apple cable!
