FWIW for some body colors they opt to not go with red. As to why they choose some colors to have gray, and leave the others with red that's anybodies guess.
Early hydro-blue models had gray dash panels, as do all nacho Rubicons. I'm sure there are other colors they've opted for gray.

I actually just sold my JK yesterday. Owning the gladiator now I just don’t drive it like I use to, and with use vehicle prices being what they are it was hard to pass up.
