Nice setup. Nice rig. I’m taking notes. Being from Virginia, but having lived in Colorado for four years, I can comfortably say…..both are excellent, for very different reasons. I have the factory flat black Mojave wheels, and in about another 10k miles, will be riding on at least 35’s. If the...
Ha! The untold story is that it’s always windy. But it’s always amazing. After 4 years living on the front range, and commuting through Utah, I can confirm that the winds almost never stop. I always carry an extra tarp, for wind blocking. In July those winds are a blessing, but not in February...
I hope you got to point sublime! Hands down the best views of the GC. We did it a couple years ago, overlanding in the Mojave, and, Wow! Keep the memories. Photos do it no justice. Anyone planning the GC should spend time on the north rim. Glen Canyon around lake Powell, is another spectacular...
I have to agree. I’ve owned several 1500-2500 series both Ford and Chevy. A 2500 Duramax Silverado will pull an entire fleet of Gladiators. But……with doors and top on. And off road, there is no comparison. I have been running just the Gladiator Mojave for three years now, and, from Moab, and the...
4cyl? No thanks. I want a beefy V-8, with huge power. Bigger is better in the question of powerplants. Always. With a big V-8 I don’t have to juice it all the time, but I can. I’m not always towing, but I can. This is just another shiny new thing. I’ll pass
I agree with so many people, that my Mojave is my favorite truck. So much exploring to do where you can’t charge your electric car. All electric vehicles have great torque, just not for long, or in cold weather, or towing. Overlanding? Mojave! I know how bad the electric grid really is, so I’m...
Good luck with Imogene in July ? it was still closed last 4th of July. I did engineers instead and the Alpine loop. Lots of options out there, you can’t go wrong. Just a few more hours to Moab, and 4-wheel heaven
Ditto on the work truck. I have driven my work truck 2018 3.0 V6 Chevy Colorado from Denver to LA every month for the last 3+/- years. I have had an opposite experience. It has been reliable for 125,000 miles, driving some milder trails (not my truck) in Moab, all the way to the Sierras, Death...
Mods that are a must
Cover the bed, and get a rack. Few choices for both. I went with the softopper and Datin Fab rack. Love both.
Winch is a must. You wouldn’t drive without insurance, and that’s what a winch is.
Awning. I love the Darche 270° batwing, and get more use out of it than...
I never considered mileage. I would have bought a smart car instead. What I wanted was a very capable vehicle right off the showroom floor. I’ve done some mods, like a cold air intake, but just for better performance. Same 15-17 as everyone else
No RTT. Won’t fit in the garage. Not being in Colorado might change my mind, but when the mercury hits zero, the garage is a must. Can’t wait to do some beach camping
Love it! We’ll be in the Black Hills next weekend! Can’t wait to get to the Badlands too, then heading over to Yellowstone for a few days, then down through the Tetons, and back to Denver
The factory 2.5” lift, on factory 33’s. When we get to Florida, I will put a new set of 35’s, but not sure which ones. The Darche awning is awesome, best quality on the market, IMHO. Setup in 4-5 minutes, breakdown in 5-6 minutes. Three extra poles, all the guys and stakes, and the beefiest...
Agreed! I love my 2021 JTM. It’s a beast off-road, and rides pretty sweet on the highway getting to the trails. Getting ready to pull a trailer from Colorado to Florida in a month, so I might have another update soon
