I would think if you had an extended 100k powertrain warranty, this would be covered. Being that it was maintenanced at the proper intervals using the proper oil, filter, etc.
As far as i know, Jeep does not grease the wheel hub assembly and it can start making a ticking sound in some cases. This happened with my Jeep Cherokee. I took apart the hub assembly and greased the inside cavity/housing and the splines and the noise went away.

Is there anything different or new about the ecodiesels they put on new jeeps/rams? Seems like the newer ones have more trouble then older models. Could just be a coincidence in my circle of friends.
It would have been much worse if it was a unibody design where the frame and body of the car are made as one piece. Hopefully whatever damage was done to the frame can be repaired.
I did take photos to show the dealership, thats when they said it was normal not to be greased, but i cant find the pictures now. I do plan on checking the JT sometime soon.
Fair analysis! My neighbor has a diesel JT and has had nothing but problems with the engine according to him and i do see a rental in their driveway quite often. Lol. However, this could be one-off situation. Maybe he put the wrong fuel in it! Haha!

Did it feel any different driving afterwards? You may have gotten lucky! Then again jeeps actually have a real frame and the best axels in the business.
