It was actually in really great shape. A lot cleaner than I expected. The swirl valves were not coked up with carbon like I expected. The swirl valve actuator rod had failed and that was the reason for the fault code.
I just finished replacing the intake on my 21 JTDR and I used the Dorman intake manifold. they are identical to the factory intake manifold on my 3rd gen ecodiesel. That would lead me to assume the banks will fit your 3rd gen ecodiesel.
I wonder if any of you guys are interested in a weekend meetup to swap experiences regarding gear and different trips. I’m in Benicia and know a few Gladiator peeps, but the more the merrier.
My truck has 136k on it now. I was throwing the glow plug and swirl valve fault codes for about 15k and smog was due. I did my YouTube research and couldn’t find any 3rd gen ecodiesel videos out there to help assist in my quest to “get it right the first time”. I ordered the Dorman intake...
I’ve been on a tear lately with projects as I build up to doing the big job of r&r’ing the intake manifold and the EGR cooler.
Today I finished up the Fender chop mod. It’s a plainly simple job, accomplished with simple tools. If I had properly prepared, it would have taken me only about two...
While I’ve been waiting for the last bits and bobs to arrive for the big tear down and repair of the ecodiesel, I decided to finally finish another project that I’ve been procrastinating on.
the Cascadia 4x4 VSS 2.0 hood solar kit is pretty nifty.
My Jeep in The City. It’s a work truck(best work truck I e ever had) that doubles as my adventure mobile.
I also forgot to update that I finally put 37’s on it after someone’s failed attempt to slash my tires. I figured it was a good time to upgrade. Next year in January I will have 4.56 gears...
Oh boy, here we go…
I will preface this with the fact that I LOVE this truck. It will need to be pried from my cold, dead hands when I’m done with this world.
Now, to the meat of this post.
I’ve got some shitty CEL’s to deal with. It appears my swirl valves are blocked with soot buildup and...
My 1981 CJ-7. I just got it a few months ago. It sat for over 20 years. I’ve been going through all the mechanical and electrical to make it roadworthy.
This is a maintenance day on the Gladiator as well as more tinkering on the CJ.
I visited Moab for the first time last year. I spent most of my time chasing the National Parks to do lists. We did do RimRocker as it was very tame and my buddy was in his brand new Pro4X Frontier.
This upcoming trip I’d really like to be registered on a couple trail rides that are club...
I am planning to be at EJS 2026. I will likely be towing my my 81 CJ-7 behind the Gladiator. It’s my bucket list trip. So, it’s fitting for my 50th birthday gift to myself.
Decided a different direction in bed management and need to get rid of these. Honestly, I will likely be selling the passenger MOLLE panel as well soon. However, the passenger panel still houses my inverter, water pump and accessory switch panel at the moment and those get used on a daily basis.
