The first time I used mine was on a 26° incline rockface. It was such a relief the winch plate and bumper didn't rip off, telling me I installed it and put everything back together correctly.
It's an always on feature of the Tazer. There was a bug a few firmware versions back where the feature wasn't working as designed. Definitely make sure you're on the most recent firmware and update if you aren't.

Driveshaft replacement is based more off front suspension travel than lift height even though the two are closely related. There's a magic number, I think more than 28.5" of travel, requires an upgraded driveshaft. That's why Metal Cloak's 30" of travel on their 2.5" lift recommends a new drive...
Were you in 2H when you disabled the FAD?
Edit: I'm not well versed on the 4Hi Auto so I went down a bit of a rabbit hole and can't find confirmation one way or the other wat the FAD does in that mode.
That's now how that works. That option on the Tazer is for when you replace the axle with one without FAD or physically remove the FAD. It's just preventing the computer for looking for it. You're not sensing any vibration because the FAD is still disconnected.
That's the purpose of the black sheath behind the wrap you put on. You could also prevent exposure by winching your hook all the way in instead of hooking it to your shackle.
