The newer 275s (USB C front port) can support wide band on repeater channels. If purchased recently it likely already does from the factory. If it was manufactured earlier and shipped with narrow band it can be sent into Midland for a firmware update. More here.
I also did a flush mount port. I put mine on the passenger side of the center console. I didn't take into account a support beam behind it so not as flush as I wish it could have been but it still came out great. Pics.
This made me poop my pants a little last week when I got done installing a compressor under the passenger seat and the passenger heated seat disappeared from the controls menu when I hooked the battery back up. It fixed itself after a few power cycles, still waiting for Off Road Pages to come back.
