I went 5.13s with my 37s mostly because my rig sees a lot of off road, I am ok with pretty lousy mpg, and those will fare ok when I eventually go with 38s. 5.38s would have been too much I still drive on the highway and 70 is about as fast as I want to go as rpms around a bit over 2500.
An idea worth noting here is flex. If the rig has good flex you have more contact at the tires or less chance of tire being spun. Means you can get away with lsd/tru-trac in more situations. Hell even open diffs can do a lot more if your tires stay in contact. Put simply might be more...
Thanks for sharing your experience. Bet it was a blast but get it was nerve racking seeing things can go wrong quick. I live pretty close and plan to get up there eventually. Think I should add those diff diapers before I go ? anything you would change up for next time? Sounds like bigger tires...
In regards to tru trac more or less. It is somewhere between an open diff and fully locked but generally good enough. It seems a popular option is to go locker up front and tru trac in back.
Cost will vary depending on who does the work, where you live and what warrenty they provide. For a tru...
People seem pretty happy with them. Ford though gotta be bummed they don’t have more to sell. On an aside I keep seeing those new Rivian electric trucks… looks like a Maveick and iPhone crossed ?
I have a solid 5” of lift on my rig and did put on iirc 1” carrier spacers. Have been off road a lot including Moab, sand dunes, firetrails, hill climbs and local off road park. Knock on wood no issues. Had to go eyeball my shafts and look good too. Would total shock extension make the...
For the money the Jeep kit is worth a shot if you want to try to get in without spending a lot. Easy to install and just about fully complete out of the box. Needs adj track bar and/or relo brackets to be perfect.
I have wondered about these was looking at some called Morimoto awhile back. Decided to not go that route due to being scared off hearing it might not be a legal option here in CA. Might try em regardless once the halogen start to fail.
Love this thread! Playing in the sand is a nice change from trails and the rocky stuff. Been to Oceano dunes a couple times in recent pst. Got 13.5 wide tread I’d say not much need to air down but can say it makes a difference. 20 is good but last time think I went 15. Nobody here mentioned how...
Lol calm down man ? I was super stoked on the Gladiator first time I saw one, and it was a sport. I didn’t even know these existed until I started shopping tacos. Put any truck next to a highly moded version of same it will probably look inferior but sorta the point.
Huh haven’t read the thread start to finish yet but in the spirit of the question could I buy and mod say a base Bronco or say Tacoma? A base Ranger might be a few G$ less so then I could afford a modest wheels and lift package.
