I just ordered this today and I'm hoping it gets here before I run the Rubicon trail at the end of September. Their website said 9 week lead time, how long was your wait?
I have a 2020, August 2019 build date.
I had a line on a 500 mile hemi swap pull out but that fell through, then I was browsing LQK and there was one listed as 6 miles pulled out of a 2025 JLU so I hopped on it. There's a few more listed as having sub 20 miles listed still from brand new 2025s...
All in all about 12 hours of work between my buddy and I across three days, about 4 hours each evening. (24 man hours how'd we do against book time? 🤣)
We blew out the trans cooler with some low pressure air, planning on doing a fluid and filter swap again in another 500-1000 miles. The fluid...
Gentlemen it is my pleasure to report that hitting the ole switcharoo with the transmission has resolved all of my issues and it was indeed just as plug and play as everyone made it sound.
Sorry for the necro, but @JTenn did you end up doing this for your buddy? Mine needs a transmission and I've got a line on a good hemi swap take off for not a terrible price.
Did you need to do any programming or anything or was it plug and play?
If it failed again in 1400 miles there is another root cause.
Maybe a blocked oil galley or something similar preventing proper lubrication to the area? I'd do some further diagnosis before just parts changing again.
Do you happen to know their hourly rate for labor? Their website lists the hemi swap prices and "does not include 48 hour of labor" so I'm just wondering what that is billed at 50/hr? 100/hr? 200/hr?
I think it's fine. Ive gotten really good at controlling when it does and doesn't engage with the brake pedal, and it is quick enough that ilthe engine is always back and ready by the time I need to use the gas.
Well you are partially correct, however DOT5.1 is glycol based, OK for ABS systems. DOT 5 is silicone based, not OK for ABS systems as it actually dissolves air into the oil which is released upon rapid agitation (like when the ABS module engages) effectively creating air bubbles in your system...
The LCA correction brackets are for if you want to run the stock control arms.
I ran them for the last 5 years and didn't have an issue, just upgraded to new front so all my JKS stuff is gone aside from the sway bar disconnect because it's too convenient.
That being said, they do require using...
No we're not local to that area.
Just from a quick search I don't see anything in Moab, but over in Grand Junction there's a shop called Clemmer Welding, their website lists truck and trailer repair as a service. It may be worth reaching out to them seeing if they'd do a frame repair.
IMHO if it's going to be used for offroad tours it's entire life, I'd find a certified welder to just execute a repair on the frame. My buddy is a Dot inspector and there are welder certified to fix frames with damage like that.
