I’ve thought about this as well and I may fool around with it to see what happens worst part about the recalibrate is doing the 6th gear relearn.
Mine only seems to set the light on when taking off from a stop in first gear. Throttle input doesn’t matter. Also it was perfectly fine for about 4K...
I can’t say for sure obviously but I’m willing to bet it’s all programming issue for us having this issue.
seems to only
Happen to those who have had the recall done.
Todays update :
my service light come on still anywhere from 1 mile to 100 miles between resets.
always seems to be taking off from a stop in first.
Today 2 times I’ve had it reset with out using JScan….
Both time I started the Jeep and shifted into reverse almost immediately to back up...
The new clutch I like it a lot and it’s got about 400-500 miles so feel like it’s about broken in.
My service light pretty much comes on daily taking off from a stop seems to be the primary time it does it. Some times 1 launch and sometimes 25 launches from a stop lol (with 0 throttle input)...
Yeah they did mine prior to purchase as well. I wasn’t a big fan of the setup but wasn’t going to mess with it. Then it threw the hot clutch and service trans light while off roading and that was enough for me to begin the journey of upgrading the clutch and trying to figure out/get the service...
2 recalls on the 6-speeds I know of.
1. 19A which is clutch recall. They are suppose to replace the clutch and reprogram the computer.
2. Gear position sensor. Causes issues with the backup camera and reverse light I believe. Fix is new sensor.
I test drove an auto and drove out of town to pick up my manual. I knew full well the crap design clutch and I’d have issues with it overheating. Wasn’t aware I was gonna have a software or sensor issue doing the service transmission light I missed that one during research.
That said I’d buy it...
