Thanks, I was kind of in a pinch visiting family. Jeep decided to have issues here… it was just in the shop not too long ago for a timing cover gasket leak, valve cover gasket leak, and cam sensor leak :|…. Assuming the tech over tightened the filter and it finished cracking now?? Made a huge...
I am currently tracking down a leak- somewhere around the oil cooler/filter housing area…. The photos here are very helpful, and I just so happen to take a filter apart today…. So resurrection with a contribution…. ??
Thanks I will definitely look into this. The first oil leak turned into a similar situation to yours. “Oil pan gasket” (clearly was above the oil pan….) turned into timing chain gasket, which turned into, in addition to the timing chain gasket it’s the valve cover and cam sensor…. To be just a...
I am a long time jeeper…. And I fully support this message. At $70k out the door my wife is constantly throwing around the comments that her girlfriends are driving Porsches with way less issues for not much more. Starting to think she’s going to win this one and get a used Cayenne Coupe...
Man, it’s truly unreal… the lack of give a crap at the “technician” level is just magical. 10-20 more years the answer will be have an issue, buy a new car….
How many bikes do you plan to carry??
I have and use a Lolo upright, and the rack itself is probably 60-80lbs…. Figure an average good light mountain bike is 23-25# a piece, enduro bikes 32-35#’s….
Personally I’d ditch the front hitch idea…. Go with a gutter mounted roof rack and throw the...
First round yes valve cover, and cam position sensor… they fixed this last month.
How did your leak work out?
Just discovered two new leaks. Sensor has a seeping leak on the passenger side this time.? (Photo below, guessing cam position sensor)
and the larger/more concerning leak is on the...
Even to set it incorrectly would be hard. There are plastic alignment dowels glued to the windshield that go into holes in the window frame. Thought it was neat, watched the safelight dude swap ours out, didn’t take a photo.
S&B makes the intake you are talking about… and it is only for Gas powered rubicons :(
they also sell just the “scoops” that don’t connect to the intake.
If the shock lengths aren’t changing, there isn’t a risk of over extending the sway bar links. ???
So, OP, do you have longer shocks? Or factory length? If longer shocks- jack the jeep up, droop the axle completely, see what angle your links are to your sway bar ends…. If the end links and sway...
Christensen?
The trigger looks like a savage… ? whatcha got there…. ;)
Area lighting- I don’t have a good close photo…. But JWSpeaker TS1000’s flood diffused
They have a 5 watt “low” and a 25 watt high… they are awesome for wheeling in the canyons…. But the low is nice area lighting for camp...

Really happy with this maintainer.
?? might as well keep it- stick it on storage insurance, will give you something to throw money at while you are abroad. :)
??? I am surprised by the noise, as they are usually one of the quietest MT’s out there…. Wear is spot on, pretty sure my best set were 20k miles with still having off road tread left. Give the XT’s a shot in the future! :)
Mt’s or XT’s? Curious about what you hated if they were the XT’s. I’m 10k in and have zero complaints. Quiet and perform really well 37/12.5’s
Really depends on how bad the leak is.
to fix this correctly you will need to take the yolk off…. Which means new crush sleeve on the pinion. So, the seal is probably $15… Crush sleeves are also cheap $4-8….
I am sure there is a shop out there that will just pull the yolk and seal…. Replace and...
I have not had this issue, and haven’t read of many others having it.
Do you plan on bumping tire size up and off roading? Might be worth ditching the headache and going with a solid axle shaft and eliminating the fad all together…..
If not maybe a good video will help at the dealer- grinding...
