Whoa!!!!! That's way sooner than I thought. Once I see it in person will be one step closer to ordering. I was going to wait for diesel/gator but now the diesel is either going to be forever or be a failure. so...… hoping to see one soon.
I run "ethanol free". We have two very common gas stations here (Kwik Trip and Holiday) that offer it.
There are some options of "premium" that have more octane but still have ethanol (the devil).
I get better mileage which off-sets the cost and I reduce damage.
I noticed that everyone is running 87 octane. With how horrible ethanol is to the system, isn't it better to run non-ethanol premium?
Maybe that isn't available around the country (?)
I'll drive plenty to make it worth the $ to get a diesel however....I'm waiting on the RAM and the Wrangler to start using it to see what issues they come up with and to see how well the tuners/removal of the EGR thingy goes.
Maybe I'll get the Pentastar- drive the hell out of it for a couple...
So.....I occasionally throw out some questions to a Jeep sales guy I know (funny thing he has no idea I'm on Jeep Garage and this forum so I get more details sooner than he does!!!)
I asked him a general Pentastar question and asked him his thoughts on this recall.... here's his response...
well, the latest report from the RAM ecodiesel is combined 24 mpg....good/bad/thoughts?.
It'll probably be 22 combined in the Gladiator at best.
starting to lean way to the side of gas vs. diesel which saddens me.
Totally settled now... I need a GVWR of 6001+ to allow me to write it off as a business expense 100%.
Gladiator was what I wanted but now it's what I need.
On another thread on this site someone mentioned that an engineer said that the cam gear issue was due to a harmonic thingymagig due to an RPM tiddlywink vibrational imbalance cofactor. They have fixed that so the press fit is OK now.
POSERS?. IT'S THE SAME REASON PEOPLE WEAR HARLEY DAVIDSON CLOTHING AND DON'T RIDE ANY TYPE OF MOTORCYCLE. HD SELLS WAY MORE $$ IN CLOTHING THAN MOTORCYCLES. TO BE PART OF SOMETHING PRETTY FREAKIN' SWEET!
