I have the magnetic one with charging capability. I sits a little high but I have it adjusted to where it doesn't obstruct the vent and the radio screen although I can barely see the driver's side temperature display.
Got the leveling kit, track bar, sway bar links, rear air bags and rear 3/4" spacers installed. I couldn't install the geo brackets due to not having a 24mm wrench since a breaker bar or ratchet do not fit on the drivers side due to the small gap between the LCA nut and exhaust loop. I tried an...
Didn’t get a chance to get under the JT today to finish the suspension work but did get the winch connected and tested. I had the electrician working on finishing the garage electrical and wiring the 230v sauna. Hopefully will get to use it tomorrow or the day after. Always wanted a traditional...
Got the leveling kit installed today, along with the track bar and the front Mopar replica bumper and winch. Having one large jack and a smaller one helps but I didn’t have enough clearance to loosen the control arm bolts so they are binding. It takes a lot of force to loosen those nuts. I will...
I'll be honest with you. I have a JTR with 35" tires and stock gearing. I tow a Geo Pro 19BH which is around 4K lbs., loaded. Unless you live on very flat lands and your camping destinations don't involve steep hills and you don't plan on lifting and bigger tires, you will be OK. Otherwise, it...
Finally I get the sway bar links tomorrow so I'm going to start working on leveling my JTR. Parts ready to install are TF 1.5 leveling kit plus an additional .5" puck for a total of 2 inches up front , 3/4" rear spacers, front TF shock extensions, adjustable track bar, JKS geo brackets, and...
First Jeep was a '84 Comanche
'94 Grand Cherokee
'99 Grand Cherokee
2012 JKU Sahara
2013 WK2
'92 YJ (still have it)
'21 JTW
'21 JTR (current DD)
Plus another 30 something cars I've owned.
You can also do a AFE Rock Basher exhaust. Cheap, and replaced the mid and rear mufflers. Minimal drone, if any, and it sounds pretty awesome when you step on it. Save weight too.
On my JTR, I went from 285/70r17 (33") to 35x12.5r17 (35") and even though I have high fenders, the tires rub at full turn with minimal flexing. On my previous Willys, I had 33" with no rubbing. 34" might be pushing it without a leveling kit and low line fenders.
I'm on my 7th Jeep. Interestingly enough, the most reliable vehicles out 40 something cars I've owed at the same ages as you have been Jeeps. The current JTR only issues were the batteries. That's it. On a new 2013 WK2 we owned for 10 years the only thing we did was a battery after 8 years and...
The rear shell is solid. The freedom panels tend to make a knocking sound when driving on gravel roads. On my previous Gladiator I put some black electrical tape on the white pins and it helped.
Okay, with all that being said, I'd leave the JT mostly the way it is but with a few changes, no shitty aux battery, a hard top that has some sort of bushings in the pins on the freedom panels (they rattle), rear heated seats, options for gearing and larger tires than 33", steel bumper with...
Hence my reply talking about the diesel gladiator. I got to drive one and it felt great not as snappy as the heavier 1500 AT4 but good. Still, if I buy a diesel truck I don't want to have to worry about engine temperatures unnecessarily. I'm sure the heating issues are unique to each situation...
Yours is diesel and of course it has tons of torque. Can't ignore the risks and issues inherent with the Eco diesels as well as the derating when towing as the engine temperatures climb. Also, the engine is discontinued. I honestly don't think the derating would be an issue with me since I don't...
