  1. Speaker swap

Heads up, if you're going to replace the 4 inch speakers, you're not going to find any with the same screw patter. Just order them and drill screws into the plastic. also fill up the inside of the sound bar with polly fill, they will sound so much better.
  2. Speaker swap

Some of us don't take the tops off. Plus i have the sound dampening in the cab.
  3. Speaker swap

You don't have to do all that Moe to get better sound. It can be cone by replacing the dash and sound bar speakers and you can do it all yourself.
  4. Speaker swap

and all we're doing is just replacing speaks that can handle more watts so they don't break up at louder volumes. but we did add tweeters to make them more clear. I also said F that after seeing the videos and sure ain't gonna pay someone a crazy amount to get them in there.
  5. Speaker swap

I hooked up the new wiring harness's and mine sound great. don't know what these other guys are doing.
  6. Speaker swap

I will tell everyone one thing, don't lose a screw for the sound bar speaker covers. I'm going though hell trying to get one. I went to the dealership, it can not be ordered from them. So i called corporate and so far it has been two weeks of emails with no resolve yet. You would think they...

  8. Speaker swap

I thought the same thing at first, but glad i did them. Sounds so much better now
  9. Speaker swap

Not even thinking about it. the videos I've seen make the job look horrible, plus i don't think i would put larger speakers in that are bigger than the others. i think the sound would be un-even. I went with the 4 inch kickers because of other videos i saw and they sounds good. was just rocking...
  10. Mounting GMRS antenna

So for the radio i have it mounted opposite side on the passenger side of the gear shift. i have it mounted with Velcro on the plastic and the mounting bracket. I didn't want to screw into the plastic console. I have it wired to one of the aux switches, that way it only comes on when i turn the...
  11. Speaker swap

I did the same thing with the dash speakers and the 3 1/2 inch speakers for the sound bar. I did kicker 150 watts for the 4 inch speakers in the sound bar. all ordered from Critchfield and they provided the wiring harnesses. i also ordered from them the trim tools to get the covers off in the...
  12. Speaker swap

Yeah, but what does it matter if you're just putting different speakers in. It would make a difference if you're splicing wires. but if you're using direct wiring harness's, then you don't need to make it any more complicated
  13. Speaker swap

it really didn't matter, they were just checking to see how much signal was getting to each speaker.. just put in speakers that are either 4 or 6 ohms. i put in 4 ohm speakers and they rock
  14. Speaker swap

it does involve a lot more work, but they also provide enough bass response already as does the subwoofer behind the rear seats. it's the other 3 1/2 inch and 4 inch speakers that need to be replaced as none of them have tweeters for high end clarity

  17. Which Midland GMRS radio, MXT400 or MXT275?

We went with the 275 for my wife's 4Runner so that it can be taken out of her car and used as a home base unit. I'm running the 400 in my Gladiator
  18. Speaker swap

I didn't look to see what size it is in the specs. I don't want to add an amp, that's more wiring i don't want to do. The reason i changed the dash speakers and the sound bars speakers is because the OEM's don't have tweeters, meaning no high end. They were all mid to low end. But they sound...
  19. Speaker swap

I did those, they sound great, but finding the exact drop-in's for the 4 inch speakers became impossible due to the screw patter of the OEM speakers. They only have 3 spots to secure the speaker. All other speakers i have looked at have 4. So i had to improvise and screw into the plastic. It...
