I'm in NJ and this is exactly what I do and for the exact same three reasons, with an emphasis on #2.
My logic is, if I only use it half the year and that's half the wear and tear on it than if it was on full time, then I'm doubling the longevity and value I'll get out of it.
Not to be a downer, but my anxiety comes from waiting for my next check engine light or when my back window will start leaking again.

Agreed, issues can happen with any new vehicle from any manufacturer and overall quality across the board has gone down, and I'm not discounting that maybe I've just been lucky all these years and it was just my time..............still doesn't take away the anger/disappointment when it happens...

Same exact situation with me. Wife has a new MDX and I ALWAYS choose my JT when I have to go out. Even if I'm in the garage and she's behind me, I'll move the MDX because I still love driving the Jeep as much as the day I got it a year in.
