I only have experience with aftermarket but the redarc does a great job and work without any issues. I can't imagine of what the factory option could do better.
Not worth it I wouldn't tow mine without a controller. Maybe a really short distance around corner. Redarc makes a great controller. Whatever controller you pick don't forget to include the required diode. Here is mine and I tow a Nobo 19.8 3780 dry
Definitely get a weight distribution hitch...
Maybe someone finds tuckout before me. I am stuck in this right now and hope to find solution soon. I tow a approx 4600lbs trailer and use equilizer weight distribution now. All is good now but tires are on the way and now I am trying to figure out spring rates and what lift and if it matters...
Sport with max tow is 7650 and 7000 for the Rubicon. 6000 is you have the Overland- assuming automatic.
You should consider brakes though- why not just get a trailer and put JK on it? Get a brake controller and good to go
They seem to get decent reviews and are inexpensive, load rated Around 3000 with a roadside assistance warranty. They are lighter than most as well.
I was set on ko2 but now thinking about these mud terrains. Anyone running these? Any thoughts?
Prob going with 315 70r17
Nobo 19.8 in tow at 4500lbs loaded
almost at the limit for the 4unner and nothing for the JT
although until the wind started I was questioning giving up my JK for a Gladiator since the 4runner did so well.
Both towed great flats and mountain with JT was a breeze
sorry I missed this been offline
Yeah I dont like the Tek stuff why went with Redarc -
yes, we need to block the feed from the controller back into the Jeep. If you press the override button the red wire feeds the 12v to the brake lights on the trailer.
you ask all the good question :like:
I got my Towpro from Amazon and had my diode sent from Australia took 1 week or so to get to MD.
I would say yes but I cant confirm 100% but all the research I have done I would say yes it should work with any controller or any system that generates back-feed when pressing the override.
Here...
The only issue with this is the brake lights on the trailer when the override button is pushed. The brake lights will apply on the trailer when you put your foot on the brake pedal but typically when you press override trailer brakes light but they will not with this config.
So 100% works...
