  1. Stinking, Stupid, Gladiator Rubicon Auxiliary Battery

My biggest issue with the aux battery is that (and I was told this by a service tech at the dealership) once the aux battery is drained low enough to cause the alert, the only way to recharge it properly is to access it directly and put a charger on it. He said, you can’t recharge it through the...
  2. Stinking, Stupid, Gladiator Rubicon Auxiliary Battery

As I posted, I deleted my aux battery a while ago as well. I neglected to mention that I upgraded to a larger main battery at that time as well. Not sure why they think they need that second battery. I’d love to know.
  3. Stinking, Stupid, Gladiator Rubicon Auxiliary Battery

I took the aux battery out and connected its positive cable to the main battery terminal. Been driving it like that for about six months. Start/stop works like normal and the only issue has been a couple of alerts saying start/stop is disabled. They go away on the next restart. I am convinced...
  4. IFS Jeep bombing through the desert

To each his own. I enjoy putting along in my JTR and enjoying a relaxing day in the wilderness with some adrenaline from the obstacles I slowly navigate. That doesn't look like fun to me.
  5. What's Your Body Count?

1993 GC, 2002 GC, 2011 GC, 2017 GC Trailhawk, 2020 JTR Launch Edition, 2022 GC Trailhawk still have the last two. Drive the JTR the most.
  6. Engine longevity testing

As I plan to keep my JTR Launch Edition for a very long time, I installed the Baxter Performance filter kit, https://www.baxterperformanceusa.com/shop-by-make/pentastar-32l-and-36l-2014-to-present-ms-201-bk-cartridge-to-spin-on-adapter.html. It improves cold starts. One of these days I’ll...
  7. Engine #1 dead...Engine #2 dead...

I owned a couple Audis over the years. First A8 was an awesome car. A pleasure to drive and very few issues. It got passed around the family until it was over 20 yo. Finally sold it to a parts guy because it wasn’t being driven. Found out later he was driving it years later. Second A8 was a...
  8. JTRD on 37" what ratio 4:56 or 4:88

Based on everything I have seen this chart is a little overkill unless you’re not planning to drive on the road maybe.
  9. Another thinking about switching to a Gladi from a Taco thread

Yes, nothing easy about getting a rig on and off the island, But then once there the only really good reason to leave is a wheeling trip.
  10. Another thinking about switching to a Gladi from a Taco thread

I do a lot of long distance driving in my 2020 JTR with 37s and 4:88 gears. On trips to AZ and back from NW Washington state I see average milage of 17+ mpg. My rig is way overweight with a Super Pacific camper canopy and lots of other equipment. I do keep it ay 65-70 on the highway. The ZF 8...
  11. JTRD on 37" what ratio 4:56 or 4:88

In that case 4:56 is probably plenty. I run 4:88s on 37s with the 3.6 and it’s plenty. It’s worth doing if you want max performance from the rig.
  12. Worst Trends?

Angry grills and rubber band tires on huge wheels.
  13. How do you JT gassers do it? MPG...

Due to the fine aerodynamic lines of all JTs, wind direction is a huge factor in MPG. With a tail wind fuel economy seems to be quite good. Into a 20 knot head with I'm looking for gas pretty quick.
  14. Stinging article on Stellantis on CNN. Not looking good.

Seems to me Stelantis made a mistake thinking that interest rates would stay low and the economy would keep humming along. That and the numerous “safety and emissions” requirements put on vehicles left them and most other vehicles overpriced for current market conditions. Hopefully they will be...
  15. 35 x 12.5 tires on factory Willy's wheels - Costco says NO...

Lots of people do it without issues. Is it ideal, no. But things rarely are. But if you can afford it, 8.5" is better.
  16. 35 x 12.5 tires on factory Willy's wheels - Costco says NO...

I'd look at some tire fit/rub threads if I were you. Some guys in this thread are saying they will fit. I'm not certain but I am pretty sure Rubicons have more clearance than Willys so while they may work on a Rubicon, they might rub on yours. I think Costco may be trying to protect you against...
  17. Whelp...it's my turn...busted visor :-(

My wife broke my passenger side visor. She thought she could move it down when fully extended. Aside from that they've been fine.
  18. 23 Gladiator Rubicon Build

I pity those exhaust tips if you ever seriously off-road that thing.
  19. Cracked rear sway bar mount bracket

I agree it was poorly done. I just know mine which is far from stock held up fine until I landed on some nasty rocks.
  20. Cracked rear sway bar mount bracket

Because you have to do something like land really hard on a rock to break it. I welded a piece of steel on the broken mount and added the MC reinforcement bracket.
