Weāre heading to the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto tomorrow and itāll be our first time attending.
For anyone whoās been before ā any tips to make the most of it?
Best times to walk the floor, must-see sections, stuff thatās easy to miss, or things you wish youād known your first...
Thatās interesting ā especially that it kept starting in the same spot every time.
Bottom passenger side seems to be a common origin point, and once they start there they tend to bloom fast like you described. 2 months after a new purchase is really crappy though.
Keeping our wipers crossed...
Oof, that hurts. Especially after years of it holding up.
Gorilla Glass or not, once itās heavily pitted it feels like itās just waiting for the right conditions.
Cold nights in Breckenridge donāt help either. Brutal surprise to start the morning.
Thatās so frustrating! Especially when you donāt get much support on it. Totally get riding it out for now. Whenever you do replace it, you might want to look into windshield protection film. A lot of Jeep owners add it to help cut down on repeat chips and cracks.
Love it! Simple and effective! Keeping the blades from freezing down is a big bonus too. Parking near a wind block is also smart and would definitely help. Sometimes the low-tech solutions are the best ones.
Have you noticed a difference in how often small chips spread since you started doing that?
Ah man, thatās brutal! Nothing worse than hopping in and seeing a crack that wasnāt there 30 minutes earlier. Sun + temp swings can be brutal on glass. Did you end up replacing it right away or you still riding with the crack?
Thatās actually kind of funny when you put it that way š
Go 50 years no issues⦠then start driving bricks and suddenly youāre on a first-name basis with the glass shop.
The upright windshield definitely changes the game. Great visibility, great vibes⦠not so great for windshields. Kind of a...
Thanks, that sounds like a solid tip š
Keeping frost and ice off helps more than people realize, and anything that slows down that initial temp shock on the glass is a win. Even a little insulation beats scraping frozen glass and then blasting heat on it.
Thinking something similar would be a...
Oh man that's rough... So tempting to crank up the deforst especially when it's cold. That instant heat on cold glass will do it, especially if thereās already a crack starting near the edge. Once it runs, it runs fast.
Hopefully Florida temps at least keep it from spreading any more. Safe...
Snowboard goggles might honestly be the move at this point š
But yeah, driving a brick definitely doesnāt help. Once youāre upright like that, the glass just takes everything head-on.
Interesting you mentioned Gorilla Glass ā We've been hearing similar things, fewer cracks, but it still gets...
Yeah, that tracks. Doesnāt always need cold or a rock hit.
Sometimes once thereās a weak spot, even normal use is enough for it to crack.
And sadly always happens when you least expect it.
ohhh no! Those āpark it and come back to a crackā ones are the worst!
Iāve noticed those U-shaped cracks tend to show up when itās cold and sometimes there was already some pitting you couldnāt even see.
Was it freezing temperatures outside when that happened?
Anyone else ever walk out to their Jeep and find a new crack that definitely wasnāt there the day before?
Some cracks donāt come from a new rock hit. They start from:
Old micro-pits you can barely see
Cold overnight temps
Then heat + vibration from driving or hitting the trail
Thatās why so...
