I've used the old 69ft lb spec with no issues. For the 6mm allen, i only hold it to snug up the nut then removed and torqued with a regular socket, it shouldn't spin. I've seen people aplied threadlocker but i don't recommend it.

You're correct. If the preload from the shaft isn't right against the worm gear, welding the box to the frame still won't help with the play in the steering wheel. The brace is only helping with flexing of the box and the 4 mounting bolts.
For those getting 25+mpg on 37s. Were your phone connected to the head unit via BT or Carplay while comparing gps speed? Think tire size entered might be to large which caused the computer to think the actual smaller tires covered more distances.
