i think this could be it, except my friends jl rubicon which just got back from an accident and repairs, I have u-joints on front axle as my jt is a sport-s model, so I’m still waiting to hear back from friend to see if they can look at front axles and confirm, might not hear back till tomorrow...
So wait, this came off my jeep? Where again?
It was some cold when rolling away, like -30 cold. Did I pop this little booger off? It’s definitely sheared and cracked all over. Where do I look?
Old guy posting pics alert so here’s link to my Instagram to see this strange part. It was covered in grease and looking under and everywhere I can think I can’t see where this may have come from? If it came from my jeep? Was on a friends driveway and they have a jeep too, so we’re both...
thank you Sir, excellent to keep this altogether in this thread, we will get an answer one day I'm sure, I'll hunt for this thread if and when, this is what happens...it's the why, it's not the equipment, it's the connection I'm thinking, extreme cold is exposing that on my rig
agree Shadow that this isn't air, I break a ground or some harness isn't snapped all the way in or something like that is my thoughts, I'm at 2 years and 65,000 kms now, it's only happened like 3 times now on the steering side of things, air I'm sure isn't the issue at this point
will keep in mind but it only cuts out with a tap, meaning a lightning quick shift 'tap' or shock, it breaks an electric circuit or ground, or rattles a gizmo's brain....as soon as we roll down to a certain speed it's back like normal, I think an air lock would be more routine and not 'shock'...
well it's been awhile since it happened and now it finally happened again in extreme cold, -20c temp here and when this happens I get a routine cut out on my music with a sudden shift (maybe once or twice a trip) and then a quick higher rpm shift lost my power steering again and it cuts back in...
My mileage improved with regear and drivability improved 10 fold. Such a significant upgrade I had no idea. Went from 3:73 to 4.88 and ran 35’s and 37’s on 3.73 and it was awful. 6-spd. Now it’s a sport truck and we surprise half tons for fun every day.
Great read indead. Would love to know his thoughts on extended running above 3000 rpm where the dual stage oil pump is running 70-80 psi vs the single stage running around 33 psi? I tend to tow in 4th gear at 3000 rpm and 65 mph and it's just before the dual stage oil pump kicks in. I'd have no...
We seem to agree on a lot here so not sure where's the beef?
Yes, the solid front axle is a whatever to majority of buyers. But without it, you don't develop the many decades long aftermarket to support those who do the ridiculous with these machines which give the reputation and THAT is what...
OP has been simply saying same thing every time, it doesn't compare to Jeep, history will show. It's too big and doesn't have solid front axle. People have been arguing otherwise lol, they are wrong. History will show you but other evidence already there as there are already vehicles like the...
The op was talking about auto's in winter, not auto's in Jeeps in winter lol. Some companies can program things better than others in this regard. The pentastar 8-spd is as well set up as you can get. It sucked in the ram I had as the tiny gear shift buttons on the steering wheel useless for...
Well didn’t expect this to spin as far off into the ditch as manual vs auto but since we are let’s not forget the manual in winter driving conditions. Being able to gear down in 4wd can’t be touched with the auto. You can get close with paddle shifters and that useful or a sport shift console...
right, that's who buys used eh? lol, swing and a miss
you're not gonna develop the aftermarket which develops the legends which develops the reputations which develops into the generational sales such is the monster which is jeep...with what ford just came out with, ford is staying in their...
time will tell, as you’ll see in my previous comments there is an intangible dynamic that goes beyond the current marketing stats and profits etc. it will turn out to be a bad idea that corvette didn’t offer a stick in the c8, you may not see it right away but you will see it, they lost sales...
You miss the point, the majority of these fewer guys and gals buying the manuals do the things with these jeeps that give them cred...win On sunday sell on Monday. You don’t wanna lose those people it would be unwise to drop the manual for enthusiast vehicles. Lots of these are picked up by the...
When jeep stops putting manual transmissions in wranglers and gladiators they will no longer be jeeps. Lots of car guys are enthusiasts for driving. The market has plenty of options for all levels of engagement but if you eliminate the options that attract the pure true driver enthusiasts even...
I agree, it's clear their goal wasn't to out Jeep Jeep...but rather money focused goal and trying to sneak into another market segment. There is zero passion there, easy to see 100% financial. Jeep sales will remain amazing, the reputation will keep growing, because Jeep is focused on outdoing...
