You guys are changing oil too often. If you just run it until the filter looks like the one on the left, you can save money on oil changes, tune ups, etc.
I did 3,000 mile oil change intervals for so many years that it was hard to go to 5,000, even with modern synthetic oil. Now my limit is up to 5,000 miles or no lower than 40 percent oil life remaining.
Definitely take this advice, as soon as the tension is off the bolt the flag nut can and usually does turn as far as it can. Also, I have seen flag nuts bend the flags and try to spin.
Good that you caught it early. I work in a Jeep dealership and have torn down a number of 3.6 PUGs for head gasket failure. Caught early, it is just a head gasket replacement, but if it is allowed to run on too long block damage can occur. The coolant can etch the deck surface of the block...
Back in the '90s, there was a TSB for the manual transmission in the 2500 pickup. It called for, if memory serves, 600 ft./lbs. of torque on the nut securing 6th gear. No torque wrenches in the dealership went that high. A 3/4 inch breaker bar and cheater bar and a couple of techs hanging from...
Yep. SRT engineered vehicles have no governors (speed limiters) other than the ultimate engine power. If I recall correctly, the top speed on the manual SRT 10 pickup was somewhere around 156 mph. Nowadays, even the TRX is limited because of the tires speed rating. Now, as for quicker (faster...
If a Jeep dealership programmed it, it is now written into the vehicle configuration in the BCM. So it will be there after a battery disconnect interrupts power.
I used a DV8 dead pedal. It mounts on the back of the firewall on the studs, and can be adjusted for angle. I have mine adjusted up where I can slide my foot under it when I want to put my foot flat on the floor.
I finally got to put some real Jeep wheels and tires on it today, instead of the Bridgestone "A/T" (sorta all terrain tires) that it came with. Got a nice take off set of Rubicon wheels and Wildpeak M/Ts from @Shibbyjeep yesterday. While I was at the shop I went ahead and did my oil change...
This is exactly what I advise people. A test drive helps in deciding if the vehicle "fits" a person driving it. But it is not the same as living with it a few days. Rent one and drive it in different ways, areas, and over a few days to see if you really can live with it.
Exactly this above. In a moment of confusion, I went to work in sales at a Toyota dealership. The vehicles were solid, but I discovered that the service department was plenty busy. It wasn't just maintenance, either. I asked one tech about the VVTi engine sitting on the cradle on the...
I know what you mean. I am old and deaf, even hearing aids can only do so much, but the Jeep has enough wind noise that I figure a bit of tire noise won't really matter. But I was not the average youth many years ago. I never wanted my cars to be loud, and I didn't insist on the people in...
Part of the fun for me is tire noise. I told someone a few weeks ago that I didn't care if my Gladiator sounded like a B 17 taking off going down the road. But I do cross rotate my tires, not for noise reduction but to increase tread life.
I was tasked with chasing this exact "issue" on a customer's car once. I found that the recirc door also has to "park" itself at least a little bit open at shutdown to prevent mildew from forming in the HVAC, and no amount of door actuator recalibration would change it.
The system is operating normally, it can close completely if it needs to. Also, part of the programming allows it to open after a set amount of time even when the button still shows recirculation is on.
Those grab handles almost certainly would interfere with the side rails on a Sunrider. I have the Mopar grab handles, and the side rails of the Sunrider are a very tight fit. So tight, that when I first got the Sunrider I took the grab handles off. I later reinstalled them with the Sunrider...
