Nice Gladiator. Now that you have broken the seal (made your first mods), it's too late to say it is finished. A better saying might be, "It is started."
Nice! Glad to see that you are going into the Jeep adventure understanding that the money WILL flow. I didn't plan on modding my Jeep, but found that I wanted to. Enjoy your Jeep.
Properly performed maintenance has never done any harm to any vehicle, even if it is done earlier than recommended. Maintenance that is skipped, or done after a too long interval, has created problems that could have been avoided. An old school example is transmission servicing. Many people...
I know what you mean. Back in the day, most American cars were hard to kill, barring accidents. I had a Dodge Charger that taught me a lot about what I could and couldn't do, and it survived my abuse and was traded for a Plymouth Barracuda convertible. For me, the ultimate un-killable car was a...
A teenager NEEDS only three qualities in a first vehicle: reliability, safety, and disposable. Reliability, because you don't want to worry about the teen getting stranded (especially a daughter). Safety, this means good tires, brakes, suspension, lights, and air bags. Finally, DISPOSABLE. This...
As for buyers remorse, I haven't had any over any of the 40 + vehicles I have bought. But, everytime except one, I have had a sick feeling while signing papers. I mean a go outside and toss my cookies sick. It has never lasted longer than a few hours, though, and I am pretty sure it wasn't ever...
Exactly. I decided to be proactive about it, and went ahead with steel bumpers front and rear. Now my only problem is resisting the urge to use "Ramming Speed" when something is in my way.
It got so nice outside today that I decided to reinstall the Sunrider. I swapped the Freedom Panels back on sometime in late October or early November. I figured that there was no reason to leave it on during the months that were cool enough that I wouldn't open it, but Spring fever is starting...
I know what you mean. But I have often had vehicles that I could see the way forward on, but ran out of steam. A friend told me that I was an 80 percenter, that when I reached about 80 percent finished on a vehicle I always lost interest and moved on to another one. It seems that even when I...
What fun is there in a complete, no mods required vehicle, especially a Jeep? Besides, when you are finished with modding a Jeep, it is time to start over.
Actually, if you look at the upper left edge of the film with "Do Not Press" stamped on it, you will see the tab that allows easy removal. Also, unlike the "Do Not Remove Under Penalty of Law" sticker on a mattress, there is no penalty for removing the film on the screen or screen edge. Now...
I always remove the "Do Not Press" sticker when I do a pre delivery inspection. Maybe I should leave it on for the customer to remove, but if I did leave it the clean up guys would remove it. Nothing happens when pressing that area, but some people may expect it to control something.
Maybe no airbags in front springs without re-engineering things, but when it comes to people wanting to trade vehicles I have a fallback position. I go into the "devil on the shoulder saying 'do it, you know you want to' mode". Can't help it, as a youth, I had to drive and keep running old, used...
My two cents. Don't look at the problems if you aren't looking for solutions. Springs too light for the plow? Use an airbag in the front springs to bring it back up to height. No place to attach a phone mount? No worries, the aftermarket is working on it now. In other words, if you want a...
I owned three Dodge Darts with the /6 (Slant Six). Two had the Torqueflite automatic trans, one was a bolt action manual (three on the tree). I wanted more power in the one with the manual, so I decided on a V8 swap. I brought a V8 K frame and a 360 4 barrel engine for it. But I hated to take a...
The piston oil jets have a spring loaded check valve, I seem to remember that it requires about 15 psi to open, allowing oil to spray. These Pentastar engines use a very high volume oil pump, but only need high volume and pressure at higher RPMs, hence the solenoid to switch modes.
The 4xe uses this to burn off stale fuel and cut down on condensation in the oil. It is called FORM, I can't remember what the acronym actually stands for, but it is necessary for the ICEs fuel and oil systems continued proper functioning. Getting the exhaust up to temperature is a side benefit...
What @ShadowsPapa said is correct. These engines are not prone to failure from driving any certain way, like any engine that is mass produced there is occasionally one that has mechanical issues. I have worked on hundreds, if not thousands, of Pentastar engines since they came out, and the early...
