I finished the steel (aftermarket) bumpers install this morning. I just never cared for plastic bumper covers on trucks or Jeeps. Plus, if someone hits my Gladiator, I want them to have something to show for it.
No pictures, but nothing different than any others stock Overland (yet).
BUT... My new bumpers were delivered yesterday. Good Lord willing and the creek doesn't rise, I will install them this afternoon.
If you can't find the motivation to pull everything apart to re-install the foam, no problem. Years ago, I took a class on the Pentastar engines at the Chrysler Training Center, and the foam pad was discussed. The instructor told me that IF it was on his vehicle, he would leave it off just to...
I used a piece of chain to de-rust old gas tanks before sealing them. I just figured it would knock everything loose that could come loose, and sealer would keep everything else in place.
A few years ago, my wife and I were out in her Charger. I was driving a manual transmission Mustang as my daily driver at the time. We went where we needed to go, did what we needed to, and came out and got in the Charger. After about a minute or so, she asked why we were sitting there. I said...
Laying the quest for typos aside for the time being, how well does the Smart Stop Start device work? I like the idea of eliminating ESS, but I don't mind pressing the ESS disable button if adding this device would eliminate the remote start feature. I know that the device maker claims it...
The way that I check for a head gasket leak is to start with a cold (ambient temperature) engine. I put a cooling system pressure tester on the cooling system, but I don't pump it up, I leave it at 0. Then I put a leak down test gauge set on the suspect head. Start with a cylinder which shows a...
I agree. I was in Fort Lauderdale last December and drove by a exotic car show room that had a 6x6 Gladiator parked outside. I didn't get any pictures, but since I was staying in a hotel nearby I went back and looked at it a bit more closely. It was neat, but I don't see any reason for it...
For me, the absolute hardest thing was torquing the bolts. Some bolts are not too hard, but the LCA bolts and the track bar bolts require a combination of torque and tighten to a set number of degrees. I used the torque and angle figures on the Terraflex instructions. Hope it goes well for you.
I work in the dealership service department, so I have had many different suspensions apart. So I pretty much just decided to dig in and pull it all apart. So I probably followed the Terraflex instructions to some extent, but not in the particular order. The reason why is that I have a lift...
I installed the Terraflex 1.5" leveling kit and the Mopar lower control arms a week ago. I knew that I would re-aim the headlights because of the effect of raising the front end, so I did that before pulling out of the shop. I often drive a vehicle before performing an alignment, just to see how...
I did an alignment after doing the Terraflex 1.5 " leveling kit last and Mopar lower control arms last Thursday. It drove great before aligning it, but had a little shimmy (happy dance) at 65 mph whenever it crossed a expansion strip in the road. The alignment was within specs, and the shimmy...
I have not actually performed the latest recall for the clutch yet. I don't remember anything about an inspection for the current clutch recall, but I do remember that there is a PCM flash included in the recall. In many recalls, replacement parts are the same parts as the parts being replaced...
These engines start in high lift mode, because oil pressure is required to release the pin that locks the slider into high lift. Until oil pressure builds (about 11 psi if I remember correctly), the pin holds the slider in high lift mode. Also, the slider is held in contact with the high lift...
This rocker arm and intake camshaft are from a '22 Mojave that I repaired yesterday. It has around 19,000 miles, the "ticking" was actually intermittent and not very loud. Since it wasn't very loud and was intermittent, I decided on my own to pull the right valve cover and have a look. This is...
If you do have a rocker arm failing, usually it is a high lift slider that wears a groove into the intake camshaft high lift lobe. If this is the case, don't let it go too long without repairs, since this wear releases metal into the engine. The oiling system will carry it throughout the engine...
This morning I did an oil change, tire rotation, and finally got around to installing a leveling kit. Since I knew that I was going to raise the front one and a half inches, I decided to also add the Mopar lift kit lower control arms since they are for a kit that lifts the front two inches. Since...
