QSL. I've always tightened to "just right" then backed it off just to see how much effort it takes, tighten, back off, repeat a couple times until I have a warm happy feeling about it. Next time I'm going to try the torque wrench. Good to know the spec, thanks. I know... it was probably in the...
If it was me, which it isn't, I'd just get to know the vehicle in its stock configuration for about 3 months before making any changes. At that point you'll be far better informed about its capabilities and what gears might be required for a given change in tire size.
That sounds like a torture test!
8000-9000 lb towing with the Pentastar 3.6L V6 would be a fun exercise in a parking lot but in real life it just won't work. Wrong tow vehicle :)
Problem solved. The threaded hinge posts that are attached to the doors are different, top hinge compared to bottom. The threaded section of the post on the upper hinge is longer than the one on the bottom.
I haven't looked closely enough to know if the removable bolts themselves are any...
I wouldn't let the TSB throw you off. It may be a put-off at first but in my experience the fix was done fast with almost no inconvenience. If it was me, if Gobi or Gator is what you want, that takes much higher priority over going through a steering box TSB.
I enjoyed 3 days of doors-off weather and reinstalled them this morning. Two of T50 bolts won't thread in all the way. The other 6 are fine, but two are being stubborn and tightened up well before threading all the way in. As far as I can tell the bolts are all the same. I cleaned the hinge...
Love the rims but not so much the gray with Gator. Can't wait to see the color matched version, that's going to look great. Very happy to see such a big following for old school looking wheels these days. A few years ago you couldn't find anything like this in a modern alloy.
Yes I noticed the occasional hiccup but this has largely gone away since I did the clutch recall and steering box recall. I had these two fixes done a week apart and it was after the clutch fix I noticed the hiccup went away. Dealer says they don't think there was a flash/software update, but...
Kudos to @-miko- for the generous freebie!
Somewhat off topic - I see the red recovery hooks there and I always assumed those were mounted directly onto the frame. Are they instead mounted onto the bumper, which is then mounted on to the frame? I would think they'd be much more bullet proof...
I recently started hearing knocking/pinging on my manual transmission Rubi. It happens only at or below 2K RPM, typically when I start rolling on the throttle right after a gear change.
This doesn't surprise me too much, as I've found the Pentastar V6 prefers the RPMs to be a little higher. I'm...
I recommend the MFJ ClearTone speaker (model MFJ-281). It's compact and sounds, well, very clear and loud especially in a mobile environment. Also excellent for CW. Frequency response is designed for 600 to 4000 kHz. I like them so much I've never considered anything else for a mobile speaker in...
7 inch here, I've had better in the past but music sounds good enough on it. No doubt the Alpine is better but money was a higher priority for me than audio. I should dial in the EQ and see if I can make it even better. Would love to hear the Alpine sometime just for comparison.
I wouldn't recommend it. Those are tall gears for a tire that big, especially with the 6 speed. You might get away with it using 4.88. I wouldn't rule out 5.13.
Mostly agree, except that if a tire goes down there's a chance you can feel it when it happens, whereas, if you need a seat belt and didn't use it, it's already too late.
By 9K miles ESS has caused no problems for me.
Personally, don't like the ESS "feature" but hitting the disable button has been easy. My main gripe is the added complexity (such as secondary battery, another something to replace) and the fact that this alleged gas saving feature is another...
This is the year 2020. I'm trying to understand why, even if it was the dark ages, this recurring problem couldn't be solved with a simple phone call from Bestop to the rebate company: When comparing a customer's part number to the expected part number, also consider this new part number valid.
