You can also use any 80/20 extruded aluminum bars you want on the rack if you want to shave height. Going with a shorter, wider bar will be just as strong and if you mount it straight to the bars, you save a bit over 2" on the height that should put you closer to cab height.
Just be aware they're a snug fit and only fit facing forward or backward. That was the thickest shackle I could find that still fit through the pin and shortest that could still close so they don't pivot through the eyelet on the pins at all.
If you want a better lock with a hard shackle for those pins, I highly recommend the Abus 64Ti/30. Had a buddy who lost a 4-pack of them because someone clipped the luggage lock and walked off with them.
Close, but no dice on the RCI Tacoma rack. This is with the other side of the rack pushed firmly into the other bedside so that little bit the trail rails stick out will push it even further. Needs probably 3/4" to an inch to make it work for the width but then it also appears the Gladiator...
My rails didn't get shipped until this morning and I have a guy picking up the rack in about an hour but I'll get some pics of the thing on the truck before he takes it. Should give a rough idea if it's even feasible.
I'm incredibly skeptical if the 55" I've read is legit on these trucks...
Only reason I say excellent value is that they gave me average book value with bumper damage I got a $2,200 check for. I fully disclosed the damage and they said they weren't going to worry about it so I basically got to drive a Tacoma for 20 months for $4k.
Quadratec shows the RH at 108lbs which makes me wonder if that shipping weight includes a pallet or something while JCR is just the sliders themselves.
You have to realize that it's projected reliability based on the JL (as they are probably 60% or so shared parts) and Jeep as a brand. The mechanical will be quite sound on these now that the transmission is a ZF unit and the axles are so much beefier across the board but the electrical will be...
Yeah that's a hell of a combination there and I can understand wanting tan in Florida. I know in the southwest, the difference between a tan and black interior could feel like 20 degrees.
This is exactly why I compromised and just bought off the lot. Ended up at 12% under invoice, an excellent value for my trade-in, and driving home in my Jeep instead of a 4-6 week wait and a crapshoot on what I'd be paying. I didn't buy anything extra I didn't want and didn't miss out on...
Adventure Ready said on TacomaWorld they could custom order a taller one... wonder if that's an option for a Jeep and how much it would be... I'd love to get a few extra inches out of it and do a half rack on the cab roof in front of it.
They will tell you ~500lbs based on my prior experience shopping for my Tacoma but from most reports (which might just be the squeaky wheel), most who tried the mid-grade or heavier RTT on top of a standard fiberglass shell have seen cracking over time when it's used off-road and/or with...
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but for those looking into the Max Modular rack or parts, KBVoodoo has a pretty terrible reputation of cutting corners among the Tacoma community. Pretty much every generation of their previous racks had powder and rust issues so buyer beware.
From what I can tell, the Artec has less coverage (no muffler skid) and doesn't have the replacement crossmembers. Did a bit more reading because I have the same question and the RH set comes with upgraded steel crossmembers that should definitely be better at taking a hit. The Artec seems...
Give me a week and I can have an answer... I have an RCI bed rack from my Taco in my storage unit and my trail rails should be here hopefully this week sometime. I'll throw it up there and see how they align.
Largely they're not other than the obvious but the Wrangler's cage slopes downward behind the rear passengers leaving that triangle of space for the bracket. The Gladiator doesn't have the space there so the bracket would have to be super compact to fit between the cage and top.
I think you...
I'm genuinely curious if anyone does that HD of a roof rack because that's a lot of weight to be throwing around. FrontRunner has a good design on the JK with their A-pillar and rear bar mounts that go through the hard shell but I'm not sure they have the room to do the same on the JT.
Might...
Room was never an issue (upper body wise I feel more cramped now) but I can say that the seating position and leg angle were massive reasons I'm no longer in my Tacoma. Easily my #1 complaint.
