Thanks and apologies for not reading the thread before posting - I see now there have been several mentions of the top/center location. I'll try the silicon fix when the wind and rain stop.
44K miles, my rear window (with slider) is now leaking. I stuffed in a towel to catch the water and occasionally wring it out. Works okay as a temporary fix but humidity in the cab is still more than normal.
I hold no grudges against Jeep for this issue. Vehicles have issues just like software...
When I have auto stop/start disabled and comes to a stop, a second or two later at the time when SS would normally kill the engine, it runs a little rough then recovers. It's as if it the motor is about to turn off but then realizes it shouldn't. Doesn't last long and isn't enough to bug me.
Looking for a set of 4 take-off tires (don't need the rims but will consider), size 285/70R17, preferably in southern Maine, southern New Hampshire or eastern Mass. Not too picky about which type; will consider A/T, M/T or street tread, but must be 33 inch diameter and 17 inch rim size.
My original Falken M/T tires will be end of life in a few thousand miles so I'm looking for replacements. I'd like to find a set of 4 take-offs size 285/70R17, preferably in southern Maine, southern New Hampshire or eastern Mass. Not too picky about which type; will consider A/T, M/T or street...
One of the best looking jeeps out there. Great photo doesn't hurt. Clean CB antenna install (deleted stock AM/FM or went with a stubby?) My Jeep is jealous of your Jeep's manual roll-up windows but I wanted the Rubi so I don't think it was an option. Your whole build and look is subtle yet still...
I've driven for 6 months since the fix, I would guess around 8-10K miles, and no problems of any kind since then. I'm at 35K miles now.
Very pleased with Foss Motors sales and service depts, which is why I've stuck with them for 18 years or so now.
Great looking setup! I'd put the weight distributing hitch in the "crucial" category too. For tow weights under 3,000 probably would put it ahead of the brakes, but that choice depends on other factors too.
When you're buying from any of the top brands, reliability and longevity is a concept that often exists more in our minds than in reality.
Assuming a well proven motor and transmission, longevity might be driven more by how people drive, use and maintain their rigs than by the brand or model...
If you already have a Mojave as a non work truck, I think you'd be wasting money getting another Gladiator as a work truck. You already have the fun/nice truck. Even a cheaper Gladiator is a lot of money for a work truck.
If you must have just one rig I can see you'd have tough choices, but if...
Disagreeing's fine. I've run two brands of MTs on road, in the snow, in Maine winters, for 10 years now, and the MTs have been great, not just good. I've tugged cars out of roadways and driveways in snow, out of a ditch in snow, and then some. Don't get me wrong - I'm good at getting stuck, too...
Congrats! Compared to your '13 JK I think the most noticeable differences will be in the JT:
- lighter clutch pedal
- taller reverse gear
- short range in first gear; long in second
All should be easy enough to adapt to. Just feels a little odd at first.
Yes, over thinking. With all the tradeoffs and variables involved, either 4 or 5 rotation is fine and generally amounts to the same. Only difference here is you would need to buy a new wheel, tire and TPMS sensor, plus time/effort/cost to mount, balance, maybe calibrate. That would likely tip...
