I'm using the Oracle tail lights because my Jeep couldn't squeeze past a particular tree without smashing the OEM tail light. The Oracles were the only ones that accepted the factory blind spot sensor besides the ridiculously priced OEM replacements. So far I haven't had any problems with my...
The use case for a spotlight is very specialized; a "hyper-focused" beam even more so. Unless you can install an array of these lights to provide a broader beam, I don't see how these would be useful for Jeeps in the real world where trails go up and down and turn left and right. You're...
Find a used or almost-bald 37 to toss onto the stock wheel to keep as a spare. The likelihood you'll ever need it is slim, but if you do it'll be the diameter you need to match the others.
Personally, I still have the OEM spare. In the slim chance I'll ever need to use it, I'll just put it on...
I specifically wanted LR E tires because I use my Gladiator as a truck. Not only do I take it on lots of tough trails where tire damage is the norm, but I also tow a travel trailer while also having the bed of the truck full of camping gear, firewood, and (to keep my wife happy) the kitchen...
I have a diesel Rubicon with a Frankenlift: 3" RockKrawler Diesel front springs, 2 inch rear spacers with Airlift airbags in OEM rear springs, Icon CDCV shocks, MetalCloak sector shaft and track bar braces, Apex 2.5-ton tie rod.
Tires are 37x12.50R17 Yokohama Geolandar G003 mud-terrains on 17"...
I've been into the Rubicon several times in my JT on 37's. I actually enjoy having a little more of a challenge; with this wheelbase I have to pick some very different lines than I take in the SWB Jeeps, Suzukis, Toyotas, and Pinzgauers I've always driven the trail in.
If you figure out a good way to plumb it, I'm sure that I'm not the only one who would REALLY appreciate some photos or a little write-up on your installation.
So does power automatically come back after temps drop back into the acceptable range? Are there any messages that the display gives you that go along with the warning chime?
Please pardon my ignorance, but as someone who's never had his EcoDiesel derate, I'm curious what exactly happens. And yes, I've searched. Besides simply derating power output, is there anything else that happens? Any Check Engine lights or instrument cluster notifications? Or do you just...
It looks like a grown-up version of the Renegade, and it's clearly not meant to be comparable to a Wrangler. As if the too-small tires and minimal ground clearance weren't bad enough, the IFS/IRS are a complete deal-breaker. I'll keep buying twin-solid-axle Jeeps, but I won't buy a...
Roll a BFG next to a Mickey Thompson of the same stated size, for example, and you'll see what I'm talking about.
My 38" Patagonias were taller than a set of 39" BFGs.
I'd give anything to have Jeep still putting a proper set of unlocking hubs on the front axles.
As for my use of low range, if I'm not planning on exceeding 30mph there's no reason to be in high range. There are many reasons why proper 4x4s are equipped with reduction transfer cases.
The reason why people "obsess over this" is because Michelin already charges a premium for their BFG tires, but when people buy a 37" BFG and it's closer in size to other brands' 35's than to other brands' 37's, they feel rightfully ripped off. It's worth knowing what you're getting with such a...
My top speed record isn't all that impressive. I looked down and saw I was doing 93mph. I decided to slow it down a bit because I was on a desert 2-track with my 37" tires aired down to 12psi.
My local America's Tire (Discount Tire) was thrilled to get to mount tires on my Rebound Pros. Mine were the first set they'd gotten, and the manager himself worked with one of the techs to mount the tires.
I wish I'd known that before. I wasn't impressed with its acceleration, but this makes perfect sense.
I suppose this is true for when the engine is already on and warmed-up and you're accelerating from a dead stop. The lag I was referring to was experienced when driving on the electric motor...
I just flew across the country to visit family for a week and rented a 4xe Wrangler Willys. I enjoyed getting an opportunity to do a "long term" test of the 4xe since not only do I own a diesel Gladiator, but also a Chevy Volt (PHEV) and Chevy Bolt (EV). Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to...
Bingo!
This is why leaf springs are a superior design for towing and load carrying. Instead of putting all of the load that the axle supports on a single 6-inch area of the frame above the coil springs, a leaf spring distributes its load over two points that are 4-5 feet apart; the rear...
