I have a new one for me..
First day in the 30's here on the west coast... I used the remote start as I always do so the engine warms up before I drive.
I got in the jeep and my defrost was on high, steering wheel warmer was on, and the seat warmer was on.
I know I didn't leave the defrost on...
I appreciate the insight. I hope you didn't take it as a dig at you or Amsoil. I have some sitting in my garage for the next oil change so they were genuine questions.
I just want to stay in my lane and you're more educated on this topic than I ever wish to be, which is why I ask. lol
Mine recently forgot one setting but after unplugging it and plugging it back in, it's been working since.
Guess I need to check firmware if it happens again.
Does that change your oil recommendation for a gen 3 at all?
Last time I asked, you had recommended this:
"AMSOIL 5W-40 MS 100% Synthetic European Motor Oil"
I've seen people roll their jeep onto metal fenders and the fenders surprisingly held up well and protected the body better than I'd expect.
Never know what can happen or at what direction/amount force will be applied in an accident. Do what you like. :)
I'm 16 pages late to this discussion, didn't read it all. lol
I don't think IFS would be in the near future for the gladiator because they already have the ram series.
I imagine their groundbreaking changes will be a 6'-6.5' bed so it's more useful for truck things. Maybe a little bit wider...
As far as I know... for those of us in CA, you'll need to find a loophole. A way to establish an address in a region of CA that doesn't do smog.. or out of state registration.
I'm not familiar with the process of making engine swaps smog compliant but that's just what I've heard.
Yesterday was one of my rare free days so I wired in my rear-view camera screen, my HAM/GMRS radio, and the Banks iDash Pro.
I'm just so glad that this is done and I only have 1 more irritating electrical job to do (IIRC). lol
The radio is my trusty Yeasu FTM-300dr that I took out of my...
Fun use of 3D modeling and printing.
Primo Workz ($) and Epic Adventure Outfitters ($$$) both make padded ones with pockets or a cup holder.
The Epic one looks like it has a bigger elbow pad but I've had the Primo version since before Epic came out with it and it's been awesome.
I like the Tazer for the most part. I've already used it for gear ratio change, tire size change, disabled auto start/stop, customized lighting, and...
that mode where you press the brake down all the way and it automatically holds the brake for you is really smooth in traffic or at long...
Forgot to update this thread. I cut that rear muffler off and only noticed a very minimal difference on cold start from outside the vehicle. I couldn't hear any difference inside the vehicle or once it's warmed up.
Now I'm already used to it and don't notice anything.
This reminds me of a question I've had...
Does a dense fog advisory trigger our fog lights to automatically turn on?
My fog lights seem to turn themselves on and a few times I tried to turn them off, and they turned themselves back on 30 seconds later.
That might be assuming someone doesn't already have over 20-30k++ in modifications to the rig they already own.
I think in the last thread on AWM, someone said that a diesel swap just adds a few thousand bucks. (2-3k IIRC)
I'm also curious. Depending on mileage, someone could come out with their kidneys still in tact if they were able to recover some cost by selling a good motor and trans. 😅
