I think it runs better being a brand new engine and having the correct amount of oil. I made a point of checking it right in the parking lot as I picked it up haha. We will see what happens as we go along....
One week in, the engine is quieter than when it was new, just the ever present vvt tick. It also got the power back and fuel mileage is back also. Sounds more growly than I remember, but overall happy so far. I may even give the dealer another chance at being my service center for things I don't...
60 days today! Whoo, new milestone. The dealer did let me know that the service manager took mine for a 25 mile drive yesterday without issue so I will be picking up El Knocko later today. I will for sure be going over it in detail, because I am particular. The dealer had been in much better...
As a comparative, I have the Falken wild peaks on my sport s and have been impressed with the ride, handling and control except in snow. Being in a willys loaner with the M/Ts has been a noticeable improvement in the snow but much worse mileage and road noise.
El knocko is under the knife as I type this... I hope there are no issues after but I don't have a lot of confidence because of the destruction of my trust in them. Thanks for watching everyone!
My JT has been at the dealer for 45 continuous days as of today after almost one year of going around in circles with them after they f***ed up an oil change leading to an engine knock. The service department has been absolutely terrible in communication or caring about me, the customer, who is...
I have a set of each, xl long and reg ones for summer. The xl's definitely block all the winter stuff, the summer ones are more for rainy days than anything
Ahh yes, can bus systems. I still remember my first encounter sn learning about millionth changes and ohm changes being interpreted by the module connected to produce a desired output. Little corrosion or a pinched wire intermittent loss of contact causing arcfaults... man, good times. This...
?, yes bad misfire, had to build all new wires. Tried uploading video but it's too big, definitely not used to hearing that ?
The run stand was built from junk I had laying around, old leaky radiator check, random sort of mostly working gauges check, rigged fuel tank check, battery from the...
Update on the madness. They tore down the top end and couldn't find anything was the word I got last Friday, Monday I saw it was outside before snowmaggedon hit us here. I then emailed the dealer General manager with my entire story from my perspective including how mine sat for three weeks...
Oh, side note, go to your local NAPA and ask them to search for part reapr, yes REAPR, you will find that when the zombies are coming and the trucks not running NAPA can have your back ?
Good news everybody! Or not, I don't know. El Knocko is apparently torn down but not far enough to determine where the metal came from or why it's knocking. I was told they are trying to make a cost benefit analysis of something on replacing engine vs an inflame repair. The only thing I can...
For all the folks following the ongoing saga of El Knocko the Nacho JT. It is in the shop, finally after three weeks, no word on what they have found or not found yet. Racking up miles on the White Willy they gave me, almost 1k on the loaner.... hope they don't get all butthurt about it, I...
Huh, that's an interesting tsb. Probably the one the service writer told me the tech found about my El knocko, of course this doesn't address metal shavings visibly present ? in the oil. Still quite interesting that the pcv system would allow oil injestion
I brought up my concerns on the cats as I had visually seen the blue smoke of oil burning and had it mentioned by my father too. Service writer made sure to put it on the ro to be addressed.
I am glad they got Maximus taken care of and are standing behind their work. My dealer could easily...
