Our OverCab system uses 2-part urethane bushings on the bed rail for Flexural rigidity. Surprisingly, the bed on the JTs does not flex much when the suspension is flexed out. We've had our shop JT's up on our CTI trailer fully maxxed out and the bed moves maybe 1/2" at full flex. ARS is owned...

We just did a revision on the the JT trusses so that they do infact work with soft tops and freedom tops. Those should be available soon. they sit about 1" taller

We designed the Overcab exactly for that purpose for those who want to camp in an RTT and still be able to carry larger items in the bed. It has a 600lb static load (the limiting factor is the front bed rail of the truck), Otherwise the rack itself is the same technology as our 850lb JL rack...

We are currently working on a 2" tubular design that attaches to our OverCab system (attached) and continues over the bed to provide a nice stable RTT platform below the roofline with lots of solid accessory mounting options. We're probably about 2 months out on final production.

One other consideration would be systems that utilize the space over the cab. We just rolled ours out last month (the ARS "OverCab" system). It allows you to mount a RTT up top and still keep the bed free... or just use it for construction, kayaks and longer items (since the Gladiator beds...
