Like others here, I agree the rant is totally justified. I'd have been throwing hands. After a career in Ranger battalion and Army SF, I absolutely will not under ANY circumstances leave someone behind. That was inexcusable. Glad you're safe and on the mend.
I so enjoy your updates, been watching for years. As a former SF sergeant spending a LOT of time in eastern and Northern Africa, I can only say good luck. Yes it's got its dangerous aspects but I know you have shown yourself to be aware, alert and ready. I would only suggest being aware of the...
ASP is no f'ing joke. I agree with the sentiments here that if you don't want to risk seeing the afterlife, don't steal peoples stuff. In 1996 I had a thief break into my house in TN and he was met with 2 .45 rounds center mass. I shed not one tear.
I feel for you brother. I did a fluid change just a month ago prior to a 3 week wheeling trip, put the identical filler tip in and ALMOST lost it inside. Needle nose pliers saved me so nothing like your anxiety but I surely recognized it could have gone way worse.
Today is third day in Silverton. Different members did different trails today. Son and I ran Red Mountain Pass. 5/10 rating, loose rock, some off camber turns but scenic.
Headed north of Gerlach NV (site of Burning Man ) to run High Rock Canyon trail. 6.5 hours, saw not a soul. Good trail, incredible views. Way remote to get to though. Definitely for those seeking it out, not a "while I'm in the area".
Through the magic of Starlink I'll be trying to post pics after each day's ride. Knocked out 1,000 miles on first day driving, 800 the next. So tonight we in Salt Lake. Reno tomorrow. Then meet the group to start Rubicon on Thursday 7th.
This thread follows the adventure of 5 NoVA Jeepers members as we head west to enjoy the trails many folks here have in their backyard. It's been 18 months in the planning but finally begins. We are traveling from Virginia to the Rubicon to start, some driving, some trailering. Rubicon will be...
I'm sure most are aware Imogene Pass is closed for retaining wall/slide repair. As the info from official sites is basic, I have come across info from some folks that provides some hope.
I understand the Telluride entry is blocked but read that Ouray entrance is still open.
So does someone with...
Thanks to all. I may be starting a trail only build later this year, will be looking for most basic JT I can find to avoid paying for things I'm going to scrap anyhow. So wanted to be sure I'll find the same 850 I have currently and really like.
I will be finishing a 3 week trip to Rubicon, Fordyce, Colorado passes and Holy Cross on 15 August.
A good friend from here in VA will be in Sand Hollow end of September and asked me to join them.
Instead of driving all the way back to VA then back to UT, I hatched a plan to fly my son and I...
