That's why I went 5/8" at the end. But, you are right. 1/16" +/- to each pad probably would help. That gasket looks pretty tight. We just had a big snow and its drying up. I'll be washing the salt off and I'll see if I have any leaks.
So, you can buy rubber gasket material in the plumbing section. If you stack them on the supplied black piece, you can get your 9/16". I glued mine with superglue once I had the size right. I ended up starting with 5/8" because after the clamps are tightened, there is some compression. It worked...
I have been very satisfied. My cap came a little roughed up and there is a small ding, but I guarantee, I will likely do worse. My only complaint, I really wish my RSI roof rack and bin had shown up with the cap. I now have to go camping next week and sleep in the bed. Which isn't a huge deal...
Mine looked just like that. It had two 2x4's drilled into the pallet that supported its back. But, you are right that it had nothing to protect it on the sides. But, once you open it up, there are foam pieces that separate the roof panel from the edge.
This might work as a point of reference, the D-gasket was on the back half of the foam strip that you lay on the bed. I bet there was about 1/2" between the cab and cap. It's safe to say that the bed can flex at least a 1/2" while hitting bumps.
I didn't even look at that part. I was focused on...
Learned a lesson today. Last night I was messing with the spacers and I was doing it by myself. Long story short, I ended up shimmying the cap too far back. Woke up this morning, went for a drive, I could hear a rattling sound echoing through the cab. Come to find out, the cap can come in...
Honestly, I think I’d just like them to send me the right spacers. I’ve invested some time and bought some materials. It seems to have improved. But, I want that fit and finish that they desired out of their product. Not just what my non-engineer brain thinks is right.
I do have a...
I only interacted with Keystone once. When the stow table was delivered, like three months ago, they called me to tell me I’d get a call from RL Carriers to schedule delivery. I called them back with a question and they acted like they had no idea who I was.
I would also add there is serious value in it’s appearance. I’ve already had someone comment about keep”building them with campers” because it looks factory.
I have the table and it’s probably 25lbs. Maybe a little less. But I’d say you could easily bolt some kind of attic space up there or MOLLE panels easy.
I had a helper for assembly but he let me do all the wrenching. Basically a placeholder. Lol. Then we lifted with 3. I do recommend the 4th person.
I did not however solve the spacer situation. I couldn’t find the solution at a local hardware store. I have some nylon washers that I could stack...
Definitely no intention to deter self installation. But, for those who are going to do it. Prepare yourself. Lots of kneeling and stooping. Get yourself a nice set of high dexterity gloves. My finger tips and thumbs are pretty sore from the flanges. My only complaint, and it matters very little...
