My local dealer told me something similar a few days ago. I didn’t think much of it because they rarely seem to have accurate information but in this case they may have been right.
I just checked the KBB trade in value on my 16 JKU (Sport S) and then changed it to a rubicon... trade in went up roughly 3-4K. I know it’s not a real world number, but it does seem that the rubicon holds it’s price premium value pretty well.
I’ve read through several posts about people getting their Gladiator for 5-7% under invoice, but those were all early orders before dealers knew affiliate discount wouldn’t apply. Is anybody doing a no haggle 5% under invoice without the Tread-lightly discount?
I was hoping FCA would add it...
Haha I was kidding more than anything. Looked like osb which is pretty rough so it doesn’t slide much.
My neighbor recently put his ATV in the back of his f-150 and didn’t strap it down. Hit the brakes hard and it busted out his back window! So I guess it was on my mind.
For reference a rubicon has a 7,000lb tow rating with auto and 33” rubber. A sport has a 7,650lb rating with max tow, auto, same 4.10 gears and 32” rubber. I realize springs/shocks are different, but I suspect that effects payload more then tow.
So a 10% reduction per 1” of tire seems reasonable.
Seeing your load-out makes me nervous! Wouldn’t want to drive behind you lol!
Also don’t slam on the brakes or you might have a broken window. Good luck!
I ran stock size duratracs for 4 years and 50k miles on my JKU before upgrading to larger tires. They were the best “all around” tire I’ve ever used. Most even wear I’ve ever gotten out of a tire. Light weight for their size/tread depth. Good off road traction. Great in the snow.
I would...
I drive a Hypergreen JKU... Jeeps are not “cop magnets” so I wouldn’t worry about that. The issue is when I accidentally cut someone off or drive like an ass everyone remembers my Jeep!
That being said I’m going with Punk’n. I just love looking out the window at work and seeing a parking lot of...
I was referring to removing the bolts that fasten the hardtop from behind the seat. I don’t have a JT yet but I’ve seen videos of the top being removed and it looked like it might be hard to get at those bolts with kid seat installed.
Good to know about the bolt storage bin though!
It wasn’t that long ago that full size trucks with V8s were making sub 250hp and weighed about the same as the gladiator. We worked them like rented mules and I never remember thinking they were underpowered. My how times have changed.
