You could go with this and just chuck the mount, gives you wire and install pieces and antenna.

Something like this for the AM FM, fish it out of the fender or run new wire back...
Mostly just that you don't need to be in 1st beyond getting it un-stationary. I shift to second almost immediately and go from there. I haven't noticed it being jerky, but it all happens kind of fast ending up in second.
Then I have to tell myself to stay in second for longer than I think...
The trump card is fun. I go down the road now in my set up the way I want it Jeep with a bed, and realizing the instinct to push the clutch and change gears is sheer joy.
I'm driving it, not just pushing the pedal on the right.
Hard to describe just how awesome that is.
I have 37s and I don't see a problem with it. Plenty of low with that lower 1st and plenty of high with where 6 is.
I could see that someone with anything less than the 4.10s might want to move up though.
That's all based on driving of course. Maybe for hardcore rock crawling it would...
I can say it drives exactly like that chart implies. We have a JK manual and I was a bit used to it.
1 is low, but that's cool for starting. You're not in it long.
2 is in the same place, so it's what you'd expect.
3 still gives me fits a bit, nothing major but you have to run 2 longer and...
Yes, mine was the end of Tolkien's poem that his decal comes from (or close, I wrote it from memory). Was always a favorite of mine... seems a perfect line for a Jeep!
Well, bottom of the differentials, you're right. Strictly overall clearance it's true. But what you gain in angles is quite a bit more.
So if what you're driving over goes under the tires, the differential clearance doesn't matter as much and you have a lot more clearance everywhere else...
From the ashes a fire shall be woken
A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be blade that was broken
The crownless again shall be king
Very Nice!
Very short term testing, maybe 150 miles since getting it home... 17 on mixed country roads and short highway.
I'm babying to do that. Highest gear that will make it go, coasting to stops, etc.
I reset it when I stand on it since I want to vary the engine a bit while it's new.
That's on...
I went with these...

Seem to be the consensus highest quality out there... and the consensus most expensive.
It's such a fish eye cam that I don't think it hurts much. You can see it obviously, but I don't think you're going to miss much because it's there.
I'll try to remember to snap a pic.
Thanks! I'm a fan, I'm from the old school of big tire little wheel, I like the way the center spokes sit inside a smooth outer ring, sort of makes them look smaller and the tires bigger, even though they're still relatively large 17s.
I don't mind where 6 ended up for highway purposes, and I like the lower 1st gear for idling the clutch out, but yeah, for me I'd have liked 2 through 5 spread a bit more even.
Agree though, livable and probably just a learning curve, and already way more fun!
There's a simple joy of looking...
