  1. Final Decision...Which Lift Kit...Buying This Weekend

General consensus, based on diameter and length is they're rebadged 5160s. They were incredibly stiff to start with.. but after a month or so, they softened up slightly Still much stiffer than the fox shocks were.. it's especially noticable on back roads when curving at 50mph+.. no more crazy...
  2. Final Decision...Which Lift Kit...Buying This Weekend

Went with the newer Bilstein Mopar kit, myself.. couldn't be happier. I've posted a few photos and such about it back when it was installed last year, and it's been fantastic this winter. One thing to note, having used both Fox and Bilstein.. the Bilstein is definitely a more stiff ride. For...
  3. Does Model Year Matter? Any to avoid yet?

21 JTR here, as above, the only real issue I've had is a broken visor, which I put back into place with a repair bracket. (Aluminum) I suspect I have a blown speaker in the bar, and I have a rear seat belt that creaks a lot... Those will likely need to be repaired or replaced on my own, but...
  4. Mopar 2" Lift - Fox vs. Bilstein Shocks

Honestly... there have been reports on here (and I suspect there was some confusion about it at the dealership, as well) about the lift kits being inconsistent with how much they give. Sure, it depends a lot on what you have on the JT, but I wouldn't expect it to be so varied across the board...
  5. Mopar 2" Lift - Fox vs. Bilstein Shocks

Good catch... I've corrected my post to reflect that I meant the new 'Bilstein kit' ;) ~ Casp
  6. Mopar 2" Lift - Fox vs. Bilstein Shocks

The original Mopar springs that came with the Rubicon would sag a lot more than these one do, that said.. I've not had a change to put much into the back yet, except for 10 servers that I moved from one datacenter to another. (bout 600lbs) The kit I installed was the new Mopar performance...
  7. Mopar 2" Lift - Fox vs. Bilstein Shocks

So... after a month of having the new Bilstein Mopar lift on, my general consensus is that the "Fox" (in quotes, due to the fact they're Mopar's specs) are MUCH softer overall, and while they are fairly comfortable on slow offroad trails and such, any maneuvers over 35MPH or so, tend to be a...
  8. Mopar 2" Lift - Fox vs. Bilstein Shocks

Now, since I had already unboxed it, I figured what the hell.. may as well get photos and part numbers for everything, right? :) Springs, rear, I believe: Springs, I believe front: Accessory bolts: Instruction sheet, laughable: .. and because I've already made this too long, here's...
  9. Mopar 2" Lift - Fox vs. Bilstein Shocks

Moving on to the front shocks - The length of the primary shock is approximately also 21" long, and the tube itself is a little less than 16.5" collapsed: The reservoir is again, actually a little smaller than the rear, at approximately 7" long... maybe a bit longer: Diameter is again 2"...
  10. Mopar 2" Lift - Fox vs. Bilstein Shocks

*chuckling* I'll not be having MINE ripped apart, but good idea! :) However, you DID ask for measurements, and I suppose I'm nothing if not thorough. (Let me know if you want weight, too ;) First up.. interestingly enough, there's actually 3 parts to the shocks. Seemingly the front left and...
  11. Mopar 2" Lift - Fox vs. Bilstein Shocks

It's a good question.. I thought someone said the Fox shocks were a variety of the 2.0s, but tuned differently. I believe the consensus on the Bilsteins was that they're actually the 5160s, rebadged. I literally have a crate that showed up, yesterday, with the Mopar Bilstein lift. (To be...
  12. sun visor broken, $500

Add me to the broken visor club.. came home last night, after having the sunrider open on the way home from the office.. flipped the visor down to close and latch the rider. When I flipped it back up.. crash.. that crappy little thin plastic sleeve inside the visor gave up the ghost. Already...
  13. Blue smoke?

Zipfiles, with links in them are common ways to spread infections/viruses. By including the link to the infected location, instead of in the zipfile itself, it'll actually bypass some AV vendors initial scans. Good AV products will actually recognize the link, and probe it, upon extraction of...
  14. Lighting problem

Iirc, the Quadratec lights come with the wiring harness, yeah? Shorter plugs on the lights, that have a waterproof terminator? If so, you may want to check those plugs on the ends... Reseat them, realizing the ridged areas actually push all the way into the plugs. I remember someone on one of...
  15. Showing off the new Mopar lift with Bilstein shocks

Excellent! This is actually what I was searching for before ordering my lift. I've also got the Bilstein on order. Actually planned on ordering it from a sponsor, but had my local dealership arrange a swap with one of their fox crates with another dealership, and as part of the deal, they...
  16. Mopar CAI installation and cover/plug fitment?

Oh . Like I said, not entirely certain it isn't placebo. We've not switched to winter mix yet, but it won't matter anyway, since I'm adding 35s and the lift in the next couple of weeks.. so any actual gains (if there are any) will likely be eaten up with those changes. I've posted the photos in...
  17. Mopar CAI installation and cover/plug fitment?

Already posted, here: https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/what-did-you-do-to-your-gladiator-today-admin-warning-no-politics.23705/post-1180277 That said, to get the plug to fit, at all, I had to trim a small amount off the bottom of the bottom lip a bit.. I'd recommend waiting...
  18. New Bilstein Mopar lift... install time?

Awesome.. would be interested in hearing your overall experiences as the newness wears off. ~ Casp
  19. New Bilstein Mopar lift... install time?

Yeah.. that sounds very similarly priced. Opinions on it? Haven't seen anyone give a review on the Bilstein kit yet. ~ Casp
  20. rant. I have a random mystery thunk

Was just going to post this. I used to keep my Bolt receiver lock in there, and at certain speeds, I'd get a rattle, and when occasionally turning, I'd get that 'THUNK!' of it sliding to the side, and the rubber/silicone coated lock would whack into the receiver. Drove me crazy for a few weeks...
