Trail damage assessment from this weekend's shenanigans at Windrock.
Steering wheel off-center, fixed by adjusting the drag link. Found a stripped bolt in the process.
Found some scrapes to my gas tank skid and transfer case skid, Thanks RockHard 4x4 for making a great skid that held up great...
So part of my weekend trail damage was my steering wheel being off center and the ESC light/warning coming on. Still tracks straight when I let go of the wheel on a straight stretch so I climbed under it this afternoon to straighten the steering wheel. Made the adjustment, got ready to tighten...
Was out there with the club this weekend, we had 3 different groups running, one for each badge trail this time.
I rode with the group that did Trail 26, we had 16 Jeeps in our line originally everything from mostly stock to heavily built. Had 3 other gladiators with my group, one gladiator went...
As others have mentioned it's a flat rate/book rate thing. I used to get upset but now days I just look at it as yay I got it early, which is always preferable to the oh crap it's going to take another day...
I'm not an expert (and no I didn't stay at Holiday Inn), but literally everything I hear from people I trust is that Yukon's are hit or miss like this on whining even when installed correctly.
If you have the option, you may want to warranty this set and get a replacement to see if you have...
I'll be at Dixie Run this year, signed up to volunteer at Registration/Tech Check-in, look forward to running into you.
I was at Trailfest, but left early as I had a front locker issue with my Gladiator. :(
No experience with those fender lights, but experience with Infinite Offroad. They are literally 20 min down the road from me, great people, great warranty, and great lights.
They've been around the block a bit so I'm not as worried about them sticking around, they also sponsor our Jeep club...
I got a fairly cheap amazon compressor - https://a.co/d/hJVvUzF
Added a speedflate setup - https://www.speedflate.com/shop/p/speedflate-2x-straight-red
And I air up and air down quick enough. I couldn't see spending $600 for a setup when I first bought my Jeep and now that I have it, I will not...
You'll be fine with 37s and off-roading until you regear, it will be a dog to get up hill climbs and what not, but as long as you aren't going to extreme, again you'll be fine.
I have the Revolution gears (5.13), very similar price for gears + labor from my shop. Gears are great so far btw...
My shop said they won't touch Yukon's for just this reason, so make sure if you buy them you have a way to get them installed by a reputable shop that will back the Yukon warranty and help you with that process. I'd ignore the rebate and get a more reliable brand.
Welcome! Hope you love your Mojave so far, so for your questions -
Fluids, I would not bother unless you go through higher water or you are doing this all the time. One time back and forth across that amount of water isn't going to necessitate a check/change right away. But you do have the right...
I went the other way with my mid-life crisis, gave up the Challenger for the Gladiator.
Pros and Cons are going to vary by person but as others have mentioned do you want to go fast or go anywhere?
My complaint on the Challenger was that it only did one thing really well, go fast in a straight...
Sucks to hear about this, considering I've got the same ones installed. Just haven't hit a trail since I installed them, so they still look new. Heading to Windrock end of July and Hot Springs in August, so I guess I'll figure out then if I'm ending up in the same boat.
The Apex take having the correct size socket/wrenches and about an hour of time. No electrical wiring. Would be best to have a torque wrench with a crows foot to check final torque specs.
Did it in my garage with a buddy. Don't over think it, it's mostly lefty loosey, righty tighty.
I highly recommend the Apex Autolynx, great setup although a bit pricier than most quick disconnects.
