I changed all 4 ball joints this evening. I had read to put the jeep in 4x4 before removing the passenger axle and that should hold the FAD collar in place. I forgot to do it before I jacked it up and removed the tires so I did it with the front in the air. The dash indicated it was in but I...
As the title states I’m looking to get real world front tire measurements of some 37’s mounted on jeeps. Here are the specific tires I’m looking for:
Baja boss AT/MT
Toyo RT trail or RT pro
Cooper rugged trek
BFG KM3
please specify if you’re running the 12.5 or 13.5 variant of any of these...
I’m currently running the same bfg with 4.10’s. No complaints really. But I want a different tire. Really considering the Patagonia mt’s in a 38. But they’re 19lbs heavier per tire than these bfg’s. While I’m content with the bfg’s I’m not sure if I’ll remain content with ~80lbs more tire...
As stated, lost is relative. It will make it as useless as 8th with 4.10’s and 37’s unless in certain conditions ie rock crawling or very low speed crawling. You may use it from a dead stop under normal driving but you will be into 2nd gear much quicker.
Peak torque is 4400 so no matter what you’re nowhere near that. By maxed out I mean there’s no more gear. It’s basically the same as being in 7th with 4.10’s, except you’d have an extra gear. With 4.10’s you basically lose 8th. But with 5.13’s you basically lose 1st UNLESS you’re offroad and...
Here’s my dilemma, with the 8 speed and 4.10’s on 37’s my rpm’s at 70 in 7th gear are basically what they would be in 8th gear with 5.13’s. With 5.13’s I’m maxed out at that point in terms of transmission gears, while with the 4.10’s I still have the ability to get into 8th when all stars align...
Our freeway speed is 70. My thought process here is that 5.13’s put the rpm in in 8th basically at the same spot as 7th does with 4.10’s. So yeah I lose 8th gear technically, unless going down hill, but overall the stress on the jeep would be similar since the rpm range would be basically the...
As the title states curious if anyone has ran 38’s with factory 4.10’s and been content. I currently have 37 bfg’s with 4.10’s and it’s tolerable. Does hunt a little between 7 and 8 on the highway depending on wind, hills etc.
Wondering if I would be able to get away with a 38 and be content...
Nitto does have a c rated ridge grappler in 38 that’s the same weight as milestar but they’re quite pricey. If I go 38 I’d likely end up at the low 80’s in tire weight. Which some heavier 37’s are at that same weight. My freeway speeds are typically 70-75. Here in NY you’re not likely getting...
Hello all, I’m currently running a 3.5” lift and 37” bfg’s with stock 4.10 rubicon gears. It’s bearable but not ideal. Hunts a bit on the highway. Looking at rehearing to 4.88 or 5.13 and also possibly changing to a different 37 or stepping up to a 38. I mainly daily drive this, very little...
