Ditto, same device, aux batt gone, and very happy with the results. When the OEM battery dies I will go to the larger one that fills the tray. I am guessing i will soon be hearing about the starters dying from ESS and the endless number of starts. Jus' sayin'.
Meanwhile, those of us with manuals wait for the parts for two recalls now.
I sympathize with the UAW when we compare executive compensation to theirs. They made the money that pays the execs. I can't feel for the exec who walks to the restroom and makes $1000. There is NOBODY worth that.
Why bother with the kit? I simply removed the aux batt and put the cables on the main battery, they reach. Problem solved and no worries about the aux batt dying. No follow on problems. Simple is better.
Previous pickups: 1990 Dakota Sport 4x4 convertible with manual tranny and transfer case, still in the garage. Sport S replaced a clapped out 2002 GMC Sonoma 4-door 4x4 that I completely wore out but liked a lot. Nothing worked anymore but it was a yard work truck anyway; no AC, couldn't...
I have done this very thing with a smart stop module. I will eventually buy a larger battery when the original fails. Meanwhile, doing great with this mod, Aux Batt sitting in my basement.
Is your truck a stick shift? There are even more parameters for ESS to work on a manual.
I simply did the electronic defeat where an electronic plug in remembers my last selection, which is off. It was an easy plug in on my Sport S.
I simply cannot think that ESS on-off-on-off is good for...
And then there is this sticker displayed in my back window. In my neighborhood, I think that is the end of 95% of the interest on my Jeep. Why start it if you cannot drive it?
Yeah, I use a Trunk Monkey and an old pedal jack for manuals-locks up the brake pedal and clutch pedal. Hope the scumbags move on to an easier mark. I used to pull the coil wire but technology has taken that one away in many cases.
I will be pulling that fuse if I feel it necessary because I...
I have eliminated the aux batt with no problems. I have removed that main battery for long term storage and put it back in months later. I have never had to reprogram anything. I can't imagine that anything should ever have to be reprogramed after a battery fails. Obviously, Jeeps are an...
I am quite happy with my Sport S. S because I like a few tricks like being able to send the windows up and down from the Drivers seat and be able to lock up from the drivers door. I don't need the big screen in my dash either, but since I have to have a screen the small one with the back up...
I think the main will be fine, ESS is rendered inoperable with the memory chip. If the main fails I will replace it with the larger battery that fits the tray with the plastic space filler removed: you know, a quality battery unlike what the OEM's put in any vehicle sold.
Removed the Aux as a preventative measure within 2 months of my purchase and my Jeep would be in and out of long term storage with the battery removed. I did not want to dive in to get it in and out twice a year. The delete has worked out great, no problems. Who would want to be in the...
To take off the letters I used a heat gun and cleaned the residue with WD 40. Just remember, there are small holes under the J and P. I covered them with the small Gladiator heads.
