My caster is low after adding the spacers. I'm measuring somewhere between 3.5° and 4° with a basic magnetic angle finder. The MOPAR spec is 4.8 +/- 1. I know a lot of folks like to run closer to 6. I haven't had any wandering or wobble issues with mine even at hwy speeds of 70+ (and trying...
I'm curious about this... I've installed a number of lift kits on different Jeeps and except for having to remove/replace the LCA's in the MOPAR kit I've not ever loosened the control arms. Since, in essence, all you're doing is lowering the axle a couple of inches, isn't that the motion the...
Adding spacers later is easy: Disconnect sway bar links, brake line brackets and electric connectors (FAD, lockers, etc), remove one end of the track bar. Drop the axle...
If you keep the instructions that came with the MOPAR kit you'll have everything you need.
Which one are you looking at on Amazon? The ones I initially came across look like expensive bubble-level angle finders :)
I use this (well, an older version from my Dad's old toolbox): https://www.amazon.com/Johnson-Level-Tool-700-Magnetic/dp/B00004T807
Would love to hear your results if...
6 degrees when you were stock and began the work, or after you did the initial stuff in step 1?
Interesting on the caster/arc comment... not sure what measured on an arc means and how that's different than measuring an angle. I failed high school geometry, though ;) Not disputing your claim...
Thanks for posting!
Did you measure the caster after the geo brackets, or just the pinion angle? Would love to know the caster numbers if you have them, or can measure them.
I have the MOPAR hoop that @Mac mentioned above (in my profile pic). The one I have, unless MOPAR came out with another version, does not have any light bar tabs. You have to buy them separately. I had this on my JL and moved it to the JT minus the lights I used to have. Bumper is 100% the...
I have not... sorry, no help from me on that one!
Other than... I've installed powered mirrors with homelink in older Wranglers (JKs) and there is a good amount of space in the windshield and A-pillar trim to run wiring. May even be easier in the JT because you can fold down the windshield...
I think you'll be ok. I know that the WARN 12s platinum works in this mount (which is what APEX uses as their comparison) on the JT and here are the dimensions:
Here are the APEX dimensions:
Roughly an inch smaller in every dimension, so I think you are good to go!
great choice. I almost went for the 37" Falkens after I drove my stock JT off the lot (with the 33" Falkens) because they are SOOOO quiet. But the weight on those is crazy, so I went back to my tried-and-true (and noisier, but tolerable) BFG's ?
You could always do this, too: https://www.rubitrux.com/jeep-wrangler-jl-gladitaotr-jt-rubicon-red-oe-oem-factory-original-mopar-dash-panel-kit.html
I'm sure there are other options as well...
I think you need to call that out in the post-delivery punch out list. Rubi's are supposed to have the red.
EDIT: I could be wrong based on @869 KPH 's post... I didn't think the exterior color mattered. If you go to the build/price website, even selecting Hydro shows a red dash in the...
I haven't bought yet, but I was going with the Quadratec Q Stealth. I also considered the APEX 12k with synthetic line: has a LOT of features and good reviews.
You'll definitely have a rake without the spacers, but you may not even notice it. With the levelers, I am within 1/4" front to back.
Maybe you hold on to the spacers and see how you like it without before you sell them? If you decide to put them back, you only need to remove the sway bar...
My caster with both is about 1 degree out of spec. On a recommended 4.8 degree caster, that's almost 20%, so from that perspective I would agree. But driveability has not been an issue for me.
With the stock track bar I was about 3/4" offset on my axle. It still tracked pretty straight, but...
I do have both, but I did the work myself. Not sure if it's common practice for a shop to not recommend both. I don't see why it would be an issue, other than the extra 1.5" puts the caster out of spec with the LCA's included in the MOPAR kit...
